and I forgot to include my wife who let me have a weekend trip to Atlanta.
I was able to hang out with team Bobby-Q in Kennesaw at the Pigs and Peaches BBQ contest. It was great to see and visit with Bobby, Charlie and Tom. The chef and the fatman also did a radio recording from the site on Saturday. The team did great with a 4th over, 3rd chicken, 3rd pork, 6th ribs and 15th brisket. Man that was some great food. Thanks alot guys!
The higlight of the weekend was the BGE class on Sunday with Myron Mixon. He put on a fabulous class complete with sauce recipes, techniques and other tid-bits thrown in through out the day. I think there were a total of 5 larges and 2 XLs cooking all day. He covered ribs, chicken and butts.
I also got to meet cbbq and some other Atlanta locals. If y'all ever get a chance to take one of the JOS classes, you will be very pleased. Thanks again to everyone and I am now looking towards Eggtoberfest in the coming weeks.
p.s. ask Tom about where to get apple fritters in Atlanta. They are the bomb!

Ahh. The Jiffy man. LOL.
Gene, thanks again for the ride back to the hotel.
Thanks to Bobby and the other BGE employees who set this thing up. It was well worth the trip down there. Myron took time with any individual that wanted it along with teaching the class. I couldn't pass up the class for the price.
I also had a great time meeting some great eggers for the first time. Gene, Tom(especially Tom's wife), Pat and Bobby, you all made the trip worth while.
Gene, that was the best jalapeno cornbread I ever ate. Thanks.

Maybe next year they could schedule some classes around the EggFest...although I am sure just doing the EggFest is enough of a pain

goofball
I am glad you enjoyed the cornbread. :P -
Trust me, for the guys at bge it is an exercise in patience.

I am glad to hear you had a good time. Sounds like a lot of fun. I would like to know more about these apple fritters they are a big favorite.

It didn't come out of a box did it?
-
The only way I know how to do it!

Hopefully Tom will respond. He brought some for breakfast on Sunday AM. They were light and tasty. I think he said the place was "donut king"

It was a fun weekend. I enjoyed loafing at a contest for a change. Myron is great at doing what he does in teaching his classes. We have taken the Three day class and it is nearly worth to watch them cook and serve the whole hog. I can tell you from his class and cooking with them you got to see what they do at a KCBS contest but cook brisket.
See you soon,
Sam -
On the side, someone got him talking about brisket. He told some things and I was able to hear a little of the discussion. It was nice to see him be so transparent and passionate about his love of bbq
