No New Egg for Me

Not today anyway. Was just getting ready to leave to pick up my new Large egg. Got an email from my dealer letting me know that they, umm, well, they DROPPED IT. Last non-floor model they had! Needless to say, it's toast now.
Not sure yet when more will arrive. I may go check out his floor model tomorrow, but would prefer one that hasn't been abused by the walk-ins or missing parts or paperwork, etc. Either way, I'll see what else I can get him to throw in for my inconvenience. Maybe a nice nomex gasket?
Am I off to a good start with my dealer relationship or what?! He does come recommended by a friend though, so we'll see.
Sigh..........

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Did you try your local Sam's Club?
-
No. I thought Sam's didn't sell them -or that if they did, they weren't an "authorized retailer". Am I mistaken? Sure would be closer, though the service would leave a little to the imagination! Worth checking out, I suppose. Thanks.

Aren't you glad HE dropped it instead of you? Sounds to me you are batting 1000 so far.

Buy from Sam's and you don't get the lifetime BGE warrantee.
-
well, better they dropped than you.....not that I'm speaking from experience or anything.....dang it.
Don't dismiss the floor model idea. Not much that can go wrong with ceramics. check it for chips in the ceramics or paint job on the metal. Also, do the dollar bill test on the gasket. If all okay, then floor model would be ok with me. twww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc. -
Nomex is cheap. Get some perk$$ for a floor model and have him deliver!! He should want to make up for his big green goof

Six posts -- most if not all questionable. I smell a troll in Professor BBQ clothing.

One day I get out of my car at the big box store and I see this elderly lady in the parking lot all upset, then I see why. She had just dropped a gallon of paint she had just bought. I told her to look on the bright side, better for it to spill here than in your kitchen. Similarly, even though you're delayed, you could have dropped it.
I know, small consolation for a person who wants to get cooking on an egg.
Looking forward to seeing your posts about your future cooks. -
you sure got a great nose, Rod! -
Well that sucks at least it wasnt you dropin it. As another Stealer that would suck hard to claim it as freight damage after that long... ugh
Floor mods should be good just check it out. Still under warranty and all. We keep all the paperwork and all the stuff inside the egg under the grate so it wont get lost.
Maybe they will throw in a plate setter for you or a pizza stone! -
I'm with DOW... Take a close look at the floor model and if there are no dings, dents, cracks that might be a good alternative. Other than a gasket, there isn't much one can do to 'wear out' or damage and egg.

If the dealer dropped it and all of the other accessories and the like were present, you can surely, with a little due diligence be sure that you are provided all of the accessories with the floor model. The warranty card is included with the paper manual. The DVD is useful to have, but you can get better info from the community, here. Three ceramic feet are useful for pizza cooks, or in case you are placing in a table. Check the floor model gasket, dome alignment, vent door and ensure that you get the rain cap and you can probably get a deal on the floor model. I always like to wave cash in these types of situations, but that's just me. Cash is king.
If the dealer promised you an egg and broke it, you might be able to shave two or so off the retail price.
Let us know how you make out..
