we are getting a new camper and i am thinking about puttin the small in there or in the back of the expedetion.. and i know there are a few out there that have built their own travel crates.. i even think some of you have a crate that turns into a table if there is anyway possible for any of you to post a picture and give me some idea of how it works so i may be able to bring my family egg fresh food while out camping...

p.s. i have never been a camper (except for the back yard when i was a kid) so i any of you have any advice to give me i would appreciate it

pps. i looked at the table forum but i was not sure if anyone who has my solution would be looking over there i mean why would they look if they already had a table that is why i posted this here i also looked at the whiz's gallery and did not see what i had in mind for my small

thanks

happy eggin

This is a simple design I use to transport my small. Turn it over and use it to set your egg on. It is only good for transporting, though. It's difficult to carry any distance without any handles. One of these days I'm going to put a couple of handles on it. I've seen some posts that show a better design for one of these, but, if you want dead simple this will work.

This is one I made a few years ago for Shirley Small. It works as both a transporter and a cooking center when I get where I'm going.

It's pretty simple in design. The legs insert from the bottom up into sockets at the top making it very sturdy.

Oh yea, the Chicken Feet were Spring Hen's idea.

The painted surface did not get hot through over seven hours of continuous cooking.

Dimensions should be easy to figure out for your size Egg.

Very very cool last picture, but hopefully that was just a picture pose. I would be scared to death workin with an unsecured egg on top of a table with just the three feet holding it in place...especially if there is only 1 in back and 2 up front. Looks like potential disaster to me. :(

Yea, what Wess said. It was very sturdy in use at one of Lawn Ranger's events in Fredericksburg, Texas a few days later. A lot sturdier than me.

It's a block with a deep hole in each corner. The legs were inserted from the bottom in such a way as they were snug up against the corner on two sides, then directly into the block where they also fit snuggly. There was no more movement on it than on many of the boxes and stands some use when traveling. Probably a great deal sturdier than on a tailgate of a truck.

I had no problems or worries with it.

The best advice I can give is to take the money you were going to spend on the camper and pay for your hotel rooms. You'll still be $$$$ way ahead, and there'll be a/c.

yea todd i have spent more than my fair share of time in motel rooms and if i can help it i will not spend one more night in a room where some other natsy bastard has

besides since it will be my bed i don't have to wonder how the bed is...

i still have to use motels but i just hate them!!! but in atlanta i will proabably not know the diffrence at some point

that looks like something i can do but i would love to have you up to supervise ;)

it looks like you put some extra support where your handle is.. i don't have a router but i have a jig saw so i think i can do that might not look as good but practicality.... ;)

I did glue some 1x4's under the handles just to have somethin to grab, and add some thickness to it(besides the plywood). When I cut the handles,I used a 1" hole saw to drill two holes(for each handle),than used a jigsaw to connect the dots(made them oval shaped).I think I just sanded them to round the edges, but I have a router if you wanna try it B)Let me know if you want some help though ;)
