Marinade Injector
Spring Chicken
Posts: 10,255
My old cheap plastic marinade injector is now history. Tossed it today after it blew out and on me.
I'm looking around for something better and ran across this.

Looks like something I would want.
Anyone out there got one and can tell me the good stuff on it? I already know it's $49 and it can be bought on line at:

Thanks.

I swear that looks like the device my dentist uses to give injections.

I have one of them around here somewhere. I liked it a lot, very easy to use and it holds much more than those smaller plastic ones. Spitjack is the name you want for this type.
I use this one now, you don't have to refill it as long as the hose stays in the container of "marinade".

Ouch! :woohoo: When I bought it, it was about $89.
I would go with the Spitjack considering the price difference, and since you probably won't be injecting many whole hogs.

Wow they are proud of that one, there $175. now. I went to a tack shop and got some Large syringes and needles that are used to give live stock injections. I used it for years until I finally broke down and got a stainless one but it is pretty much the same thing. Here is one with a 1 gallon capacity.

I have one. It's built as solid as it looks. What specifically did you want to know?
One feature you might not be aware of is that you can change out the injection needle (it screws off) for various others, e.g., spade tip, bigger diameter, needle with tiered holes, etc.
The biggest needle is what I use most, as it's least likely to foul from solid stuff in your injection "juice," things like cilantro or garlic particles
Note that they do not make a tip big enough to inject whole garlic cloves.
I've not used it as much as I expected. I'd have to say it's worth the expense only if you do a lot of injecting of flavored liquids.
The ratcheting feature is nice. It's adjustable for injection force. It really feels like over-design, as if it were used for vet purposes or something like that. -
That's the kind of info I was looking for. Thanks.
It looks like it is easy enough to clean.
It's not like I do a lot of injecting but when I do I like to make it easy on myself. Plus, it looks kinda cool. I'm okay with 'over-design.' Better than 'under-design' for sure.
Thanks again.

Thanks, but no thanks. That's more horsepower than I'll ever need, not to mention $$$$$$$$$.

If I needed one that big I think I would get a powered one.

Mine too.

Little Steven has ALL the tools. If he recommends it, then it must be good.

You're right. Maybe a caulk gun would do.
Spring "Bend Over And Let Me Look Up Your Name And Address" Chicken -
Sure does.

I'm thinking it might also be good for injecting pudding inside cupcakes.

HI Leroy,
Get the model number off that spitshot and you can purchase it much cheaper from a veternarian supply. I found one pretty cheap after someone posted it about a month ago. A search may turn up the correct post with my link. HTH. BTW, Enjoyed the Alaskan adventures so far! -
We would need a license for that here in Massachusetts. Don't hurt yourself with it.
Marie is an ex IV nurse so she handles all the injections for me
-
BTW we have a Spitjacack store in the next town. Kind of expensive but nice stuff.
