looks great!
what's the deal with the chimney of your egg? it looks like the glaze stops a couple inches from the toped egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
Dr Z- Tasty looking chicken. What is "Dreamland"?
Brian -
Dreamland is the Alabama mecca for spare ribs. The original has been featured several times by ESPN when Todd Blackledge does his "Taste of the Town" bit. It is money. If you are looking to try a different sauce, I think they sell it on their website.
-
Yes...Dreamland sauce and ribs are awesome. If you have never tried the sauce, order some as suggested and put them on spareribs smoked on your BGE.
I went to school in Tuscaloosa (home of the original Dreamland) many years ago. I estimate I've had 50 slabs over these many years!!

Smokey is right. Tonight I cracked the seal on the last bottle of sauce that I purchased while eating lunch at the original in Tuscaloosa. This is the greatest signature EVAR!

Roll Tide!!

I remember Dad taking me there on gamedays as a kid back when they only served ribs and bread and they were mean to you.
-
Stike,
It looks like a gasket to me to seal the daisy wheel better. -
Graham....being mean was part of the charm!!
Big John was not so mean; however, Lil' John has kind of a cutting personality. The sisters and sister-in-laws are all sharp-witted! -
I never spoke to him but I remember seeing him. Ever been to Archibald's? I don't know which ribs were my favorite. I know I prefer the DL sauce though.
-
Yep...been to Archibald's a few times....good stuff too! It makes Dreamland look like a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in terms of facility / accommodations!!
BTW...I was born and raised in HSV until I was in 7th grade. We then moved to Central Texas. Good BBQ in both places.
This picture of Archibald's says it all:

Nice looking cook. Interesting the things that can only be found in one part of the world
Doug -
SWEET!
-
That's some really great looking bird you did there with a little help! Nice board you have as well.
-
I love my chicken so to me it's a big whoop in my eyes. Nice looking cook and I bet your helper there is doing more then you. She looks like you knows what she is doing. Good Eats
-
I love that place
Going back to Tuscaloosa in a couple weeks to speak at the university. I already know where I'm eating lunch!
I was born and raised in HSV and am still looking for good BBQ. Have had some good stuff in Bham and Tuscaloosa though. And I've been to the Salt Lick in Austin. One trip there was enough to get me hooked on TX style brisket! Just wish I were good enough to make it! -
Salt Lick is good....but if you get back to the Austin area....be sure to hit the towns of Lockhart (Kreuz' Market) and LLano (Cooper's)!!
