plantains. cut sections about 5/8 thick, par fry both sides, drop in a bowl of cold salted water, press in the tostonera or flatten with a spatula, back in the fry pan with oil. drain salt lime juice, going to try a hot vinegar sauce next. drink beer.
the tostonera was under three bucks at the supermarket.

tostones ??? I thought they were . . . flatten with a spatula? . . . put through a press? . . .

Those look great. I had them at a cuban restaurant in Miami one time. I'll have to try them with Bomba. I bet it's delicious.

they are definatly something to play around with, could go sauce and cheese melted on them, guacamole dip, labomba, peach salsa, hot vinegar pepper sauce, could spend the evening just makeing different ones up to try never tried them before, glad i did fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

They are plantains - and are cooked before they ripen and are not sweet yet.
