OK guys (and gals) hunting season is just around the corner so dust off that scattergun, visit the skeet range and get ready to BGE your delicious harvest. I filleted the breasts, seasoned with BGE Sweet Maple Seasoning and finished with a mopping of white sauce. Served up on a bed of wild rice.

Prime,
Hard to see the dove breasts in that picture! I know they are small, but are the really there??
I marinated dove breast filets briefly in some Cajun Injector marinade I found in the frig. Then used them as the meat in some ABT's - they were great ! -
Great looking cook, but I can't see the breasts either. Be my first dove season with an egg. Can't wait to try it. I've got some pheasant breasts in the freezer. Any suggestions?
-
You bet'cha! Moist, tender and scrumptious! They are mixed in with the corn, mushrooms, kielbasa, red onions, bellpepper, pineapple and tomatoes. You are very observant - each fillet, actually about 40 halves, is just a bite.
-
I do have a suggestion. Maple smoke is awesome on game and don't overcook. Pheasant jerky is not the goal here.
-
thanks

YUMMEE!Was too wet here to get our sunflowers planted early enough.I have been sowing some wheat lately for "erosion control" rite under a light line!!!
-
Anything over MEDIUM RARE is funky!!!On any wild game.Xcept for fish and Tuna is an eggception! :woohoo:

That looks really good. Dove hunting should be good this year, finally. The hurricanes have messed up the crops and the birds for the past several years. In the past 5 or 6 years we are seeing a lot of ring necks as well. We never had them here before but I guess they will eat good too.
-
Just a little bigger, taste the same,Do NOT count against your bag limit here! Eurasian dove is what the Consevation Officers call them here. They claim a hurrican blew them in from Cuba!
-
I do them in a marinade of soy, ginger, rice wine vineger, pepper flakes.filet off breast and stuff in jalapeno(wrap in bacon). We cook up to 40 at a time with our group.
GOOD EATS AND GOOD FRIENDS

It must have been Ivan, that is about the time we started seeing them. My finger is a itchin.
-
ME TOO!
-
Bird hunter? Now that's new info.
This is what I think when someone says Ring necks.
I just can't get enough, and push it till ya can't anymore. This was late Dec. 08. A nice walk through an abandoned farmsted, after watching about 1000 escape as we drove up the road. -
Stop it already! I figured you would show up sooner or later.
-
Just flopped on an 8 # butt and thought I would stroll by before nite nite. I've been thinkin bout birds too.

How much is a non resident license these days? Some states have a 7 day pass even less than a whole season, how about Mn? Alabama used to rape Florida residents but if you were from another state it was cheaper.
-
$84.50 for a non-res gets the whole season. Unfortunately no short term licenses. It sure is a nice option in other states.
-
 :P
-
How much is a resident license? I just looked and because I will still be active duty, I get the resident rate. :woohoo:
-
Does that include ICE FISHING?

How cool! They deserve a break,WAY MORE than they usually get!!!
-
The funny thing is I never ask for it. It pretty much jumps at you and slaps you in the face. I am going to have to call it does not address a non resident not stationed in Mn. or non resident Veterans. Worse case senerio, $84 bucks. That is not bad. Like I was saying non resident Ala used to be around $250. and that was in the 70's. I was always on private land anyway.
-
Doesn't look good.

I'm out...Early golf game in the am. -
Private and sometimes public. But always free.
-
good luck.
-
Only 66 post and putting up food like that! Outstanding! Used to hunt dove all the time in N.W Ark. with my duck dogs just to give them practice for season. Then I discovered how good dove really was and got serious!! Just don't have them in S. Ark. where I live now. :(
-
Don't overlook using your duck and goose breasts instead of dove in this basket of goodness!!!
-
Ringneck doves will Egg quite nice (as will duck and goose breasts)! Just a little larger, they are more of a city slicker than it's country cousin. BTW, I'm tossing all my skewers and kabobs. This wire basket cooking is so much more efficient, easier and less time consuming that impaling everything! Kinda like Shake & Bake only now it's Shake and Egg!!!
