Turkey Burger Time/Temp?

I picked up a few Turkey Burgers from Whole Foods that have feta/spinach mixed in. I have never done turkey burgers on the egg and my thermometers suck, so...just wondering if anyone has a fail-safe time and temp on cooking them.

They are pretty thick...I am guessing about 1-1.5 inches.

Thanks!

Without a thermometer, and with a bunch of stuffed mixed in, I'd do them direct, elevated, at 350 dome, and wait until they were nice and brown on both sides. Then prick one open to be sure there was no pink inside. Ground poultry really needs to be cooked to safe temp, which is 170.

Must have a reliable thermometer :side:
  • I agree with the advice given. We make ours from a recipe in a book called Cook Yourself Thin or something like that. They have green chilis in them are are suprisingly good. I went in kicking and screaming but came out hollering giddy up! Pretty darn good! Cast iron grate helped too but with reduced fat content they stuck so I would oil the grate or the burgers a bit.

Thanks for the advice...I guess I will have to slice into one of them to make sure they are cooked.

My next purchase will be a Thermapen!
