Busted carriage bolt!
spiska
Posts: 3
I just tightened up the rings on my egg as recommended (cooked on it 4 times since original assembly. To my horror, the carriage bolt broke and flew across the garage. :(
I assume this is going to be an easy fix, but anyone have any advice?
Thanks

Go to hardware store and pick up a coupla 5/16" x 2" carriage bolts (one extra for next breakage).

Thanks. Looks like the pizza I've been craving is going to have to wait until mid-afternoon.

Putting a couple of drops of oil on the bolt before you tighten it the first time will make it a lot easier to tighten (or remove) in the future. It makes it so easy to turn the nut that you have to watch the bolt bend to see when you've gone far enough.

Make sure you get the bolts Stainless Steel or Galvanized. This way they will not rust.
