New England hot dog buns

I have been reading a lot about Eggheads shipping La Bomba and making deals with lump, etc. Wonderful! How about NE buns / lobster rolls? There is none to be had here. I've approached bakers around here and no luck! I even tried baking my own with a special pan from King Arthur. Wrong texture. Perhaps a swap?

is there any special kind you want or are you saying they literally don't sell them where you are?
sounds downright un-American!
-
They literally don't sell them! They can't be had for love nor money. :(
-
there's a reason they're called "NEw England Style". heck, if the sold 'em everywhere, they'd just be frikkin hot dog buns, no?

Yea, Stike, I'm aware of that. I graduated from Peabody High. Born in Lynn. Problem is, I can't get any.
-
Buns, that is !
-
My husband grew up in New England so every year for his birthday I get red hot dogs and NE style buns for him. I order the buns from Famous Foods, here's the link: http://www.famousfoods.com/breads.html
-
ROFLMAO! Your logic is irrefutable, stike.

Madtownbound ! Thanks! That will work!
-
I'd never heard them referred to as "New England Style" before this post.
I'm learning so much....this is like college! er.. ehm, I mean like college was supposed to be! -
i was replying to Bob. you are probably in "flat view". in my set-up, my post is referring directly to bob. flat view just shows them coming in chrono order.ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante

Welcome! I usually buy 4 at time and freeze the extras so we've got them.
-
Thanks for the link Madtownbound. Do you have an online source for the red hot dogs?
Gator -
I usually order them directly from the Kayem Foods store. Here's a link to their contact info: http://www.kayem.com/contact/index.htm.
I haven't able to log on to their online store lately but you can call and order them directly. -
Thanks Madtownbound,
I haven't had them in many years. When I lived in Maine that was all we would buy.
Gator -
Welcome!
They are definitely a treat when you don't get them regularly. My husband's sister got married 2 weeks ago and the NE relatives brought a 3 pound package of red dogs for us. Can't beat relatives like that!! -
Ever have Pearl hotdogs?
-
I have but only on this forum.
-
I don't remember Pearls but that doesn't mean much. I know they have a following here on the forum. That's another that I can't get here in Florida. Can the be had on line?
Gator -
I'll be ordering some tomorrow,I think. Ah, the nice toasted, crispy bun and the snap of a good dog! Hard to beat. They are great stuffed with tuna, also.
-
You are making my mouth water. We usually put a little butter on each side of the bun before toasting. YUM.
-
Pearls' site won't let you order. What's up with that?
-
Oh, yes! They must be toasted with butter...I want some NOW ! :P
-
You New Englanders eat weird stuff!!!

hahaha
i think you are right. i think i made that up.
nissen split top buns. come to think of it, why would they tell us they were new england style buns if we lived in new england?
i've confused myself!ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
