two 8 lb shoulders on a large??

Hey people . . . looking for some egging advise. Do you folks think its alright to cook two 8lb shoulders at the same time on a large Egg? I've done plenty of singles and have gotten fantastic results using the Elder Ward recipe but was wondering if other Eggers ever did that much meat on a Large at the same time??
My preference is to start them early and do them at the same time but i still have a time window (although its closing)to do two singles.
I'm assuming my vent/daisy openings will need to be a little wider to compensate for the extra space taken up by the second shoulder . . but what beyond that? Eat time is 4pm saturday.
Thanks for the feedback . . and everyone have a great 4th!
Cheers from Virginia.

Two is fine, I regularly do 4. You should bump the dome temp from 225 to 250, too many people have had their fires go out trying to keep the dome at 225. -RP

how long of cook do you think that will be

.
If you haven't done so, calibrate the dome thermometer.

About 14 hours. -RP

That's funny, I said to myself 14 hrs open up your post and boom I won trivia night. Fully agree 14 hrs is about the safest bet...
Unless of course it cooks faster or slower which is very possible. In my opinion you have approx +/-2 hr window.. -
Except if you encounter the incredible turbo butt. Last time I cooked 4 8 lbrs, one of them was done in 8 hours, the others took 14. The alarm woke me up in the middle of the night and I couldn't believe the thing was done. Would have thought my Guru was whacked but the other 3 cooked just like they should have. -RP

Two butts cook just like one would, no diff, 250 dome until 200 int, about 8hr for an 8 lbr. good luck.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Looking fwd to getting them going later today.
