Okee dokee, got up at 4 and did the prep for three butts while the fire built up. There's ~20lbs of butt, didn't go overboard on my first three butt cook especially given it's a MBGE. Will have to adjust their position on the grill later. Using apple wood chunks and my house rub. One pic is little shakey that's probably due to a lack of cafine at 5AM.
I don't have a clue why I'm doing three butts other than "I can" and "it's fun". I'll give one butt to one of my boys' friend they work with on the farm - he seems to appreciate my pulled pork. One will go in the freeze and I'll use the other one on the 4th with some spare ribs I'll be cooking.
I never dreamed cooking could be so much fun!!

Looks good but I gotta be honest, I truly lust after that table of yours.

Thanks, the table is a big asset in my cooking efforts. It's built like a tank. Take a look on line at http://www.taprootgrills.com/ they have a nice aray of pictures and Greig is very easy to work with.

Bill,
Looks good. I wish I had a day off before Friday to do what you are doing. I'm trying to figure out my timetable to get about 20 lbs of shoulder smoked up and still have time to get a mess of ribs on and done in time for the party on Saturday afternoon.
I think I'll end up starting the shoulder on Friday around 4 or 5, let it go all night and hope to be pulling it by 10 or 11 on Saturday morning. Load up on lump and slap on the ribs. Sounds like a plan.
Don't forget the "after" pics...

Fred,
Thanks, sounds like you have a plan. After pics are forthcoming.
Good luck! -
Yummy Yummy Yummy!
Looks good! This is the greatest signature EVAR! -
I have to give you credit, at 5:A.M. the last thing on my mind would have been the camera! Great to see a MBGE flexing it's muscles. I love mine, for the amount of lump it uses it just plain rocks!

The things I do for God, Country and The EggForum :P I did reach for coffee before the camera though
You're spot on wrt lump usage. I should have almost a third to a half a fire box of lump left once the butts are finished. -
Hey Julie,
I'm an early riser also, most often 4:30AM to 5AM, but for some reason on the days I choose to use the alarm I'm sleeping my soundest - go figure
