I just want to thank Darry Smith for a great fest. I can't even imagine how much work went into putting on something like this. It was great to meet him as well as his lovely wife Ana. Everything was over the top, the hotel, the meet & greet and most of all the fest. It was held in a beautiful park only 5 min.'s from the hotel. I hated to see it come to an end.
I also want to thank Chubby and his wife Ann. They are a fun couple and quite the tour guides. They know the San Francisco area very well and gave us the grand tour. It was a blast!! We also met Ross in Ventura, and Boxerpapa. We had a fun night with them at the meet and greet ....in fact a little too much fun.
Can't wait till next year, it's already on my calendar.
Here's a few pics.
Thurs. afternoon in San Francisco at the Ferry Bldg. GB Packers Fan & Chubby

Meet & Greet (Boxerpapa, Ross in Ventura, GB Packers Fan)

reelgem and Anne, chubby's chick

We shared a table with these 2 guys
(Ron & Tony)..check out those beef ribs Tony is holding.

Darry Smith (SMITTYtheSMOKER) and Chubby

Bill Taylor, roasting some vegetables for his incredible salsa!

Ray Soto (provided great music all day) and Chubby

Trace, who made some amazing Shrimp Diablos

AlaskanC and Choe, who came all the way from Alaska and made some fantastic salmon!

Here's a picture of the salmon they brought.

Proof that I really did cook. (Randy and Poolman, this one's for you)

reelgem and Richard (boxerpapa). He made some delicious chicken wings. I had a great time with him at the meet & greet.

Chubby & his chick

The Winter brothers, who made some amazing blue cheese sliders.

Chubby and Ann doing their "Grilled Fruit" class. They did a great job!!

Dinner at the "Fish Market". Sat. night after the fest.

Looks like a first class fest. glad you all had fun.
-
Alright Annie, where are the pics of you actually cooking? Must be your 10th fest and you said you cooked, but no pics have surfaced yet. :P
-RP
p.s. Are you guys going to Denver? -
Great pics Anne and thanks for the names to go along
-
It really was first class Al. I hope you and your wife can make it out there sometime. It's a fest that's not to be missed.
-
Bill Taylor- (anyone)
Where can I find the salsa recipe?
Looks great! -
Ok Randy, this is getting ridiculous. I know there's a picture of me cooking somewhere. I really did cook. For sure Chubby has one and he doesn't get home till later tonite. Tomorrow I'm sure he'll be a posting fool. It really was fun cooking, I'm so glad I finally got over the jitters and did it, I should've listened to you, it really is fun. In fact next year I'm going to do a Cheese Smoking 101 class. I told you I'd make you proud.
As for Denver..won't be going to that one. I do want to go to Oswego....you're going right?? -
Thanks Pat!! Wish you and Wendy could've been there. Looks like I'm going to have to wait to see you in Atlanta. Just you wait!!!
-
Randy, Don't let her kid you. She found out where Darry (SMITTYtheSMOKER) had the boxes made and ordered her own and just sat it on one of the tables for a quick pic to post. I told her it won't work and that Pat and you would catch on. Actually, I did the cooking and she helped me (a little). She did put her Wisconsin smoked cheese out (but I have yet to see her smoke it). She always says that she did it in the wee hours of the morning.

The salsa was fantastic!! I don't think Bill is a forum member but I know SMITTYtheSMOKER who ran the fest has a way of reaching him. I'm actually trying to track Bill down myself. If you send me and email I'll get his info and forward it to you.

That's what I was thinking. -RP

Yeah right I'm so sure, no proof. We will be at Nancy's get together. -RP

This was a first class event with first class folks. Marilyn and I had a blast and enjoyed meeting everyone, and the food was great. I am looking forward to getting some recipes to try. It was 1006 mile drive from the hotel to home and we were talking about the fest most of the time. Looking forward to next year.

Anne,
I had a great time too. It was a pleasure to meet you and Del (even though he is a GB Packers Fan)as well as Rich, Ross, Trace, John & Elaine from beautiful Elk Grove, Ca, John & Anne (whom I plan on seeing as cooks at the next fest I attend), Evans, Michael & Joan and last but not least Karen, who never cooked at a fest before. Heck, she never cooked on an Egg and made some killer corn on da cob.
I ask one request: I would like to have your recipe for the brats if I may.
BTW...come to think about it, I do not recall you cooking or is this pic a photo opp?
-
Richard, I was right next to her and I never saw her cooking. Everytime I looked, she was over setting in a chair by you, Ross and Rich (Morro Bay Rich). It was great to get to meet you and I had a great time the night of the meet and greet with you, Ross and Anne. The wine was great!!!
-
Anne,
It sure looks and sounds like ya'll had a great time. -
Firetruck, how the heck have you and Dollie been?
-
It was great Jeff. I hope you make it there again next year!!
-
Anne performed like the veteran Egger she is.

Richard, I really glad I got to meet you. The meet and greet was a blast. Poor Ross, we really got him bad Friday night. I wish I would've got a picture of Karen. That was pretty amazing, never cooked on an egg and her first cook is at an Eggfest!!! Wow!! It took me a year to do that. And cut it out, I really did cook. You had to see me I was right across from you. And no, it wasn't a photo opp. :woohoo: I appreciate you posting the pic to show these people who always think I'm dreaming these things up.
The brats are easy peasy.
Grill the fresh brats on a low heat, you don't want them to burst. When they are browned add them to a CI dutch oven which has beer, butter, brown mustard and sliced onions. Let them simmer for about 30 min. You want to simmer not boil to make them really tender. They're great for a large group because you can cook ahead and let them simmer on low for a few hours. Enjoy!
Hope to see you soon!! -
Smitty, you put on one heck of a GREAT Eggfest!!!! Thank you for all the hospitality and a really great time. I still have a side ache from all the fun and laughing at dinner with you Ana, Chubby, Chubby's Chick (Ann) and of course, my Anne. Anne and I can't wait until next year. The only thing we are going to change is, we're going to add some days to the trip. It just went too fast.
-
We had a GREAT time. Egg by the Bay is the BEST!!! Wish you and Dollie could've been there.
-
Anne it was great meeting you and Del, the meet and greet was a lot of fun and so was the Feast. I'll be looking forward to seeing you and Del next year!
Ross -
Darry thanks for posting the picture. I can put an end to all the doubts. Wait till I do a Cheese smoking 101 next year. I can't wait!!
You really put on one great fest Darry. You and Ana are very special people. We had such a great time. Thanks again for everything and for making us feel so welcomed. -
