Cheese stuffed olives on small
Pepper Monkey BBQ
Posts: 652
First off, this was highly experimental and this post is more of a lesson learned. Saw cheese stuffed green olives fried up on the food network(by giada of course). Decided we'd try them on the egg instead of fried. Very close to a success!
Pitted green olives, stuffed with a mix of ricotta and goat cheese. Toss in flower, then egg, then bread crumbs. Set the small up for about 450 hoping to cook them fast enough to seal in the cheese. For the most part it worked, but next time we'd use a bit more flavorful cheese ... kind of got lost in the breading/olive taste ... but still good!
Experimenting and having fun ... that's what it is all about right! Got a whole chicken I'm about to start smoking on the large!

Olives Prepped

First batch got a bit crispy ... don't have a plate setter for the small ...
Finished and rather tasty! Cheese stuffed olives.

Nice looking snack. I like to put blue cheese and a large caper in the big ones. Guess will try your way soon.

A caper ... that would be a perfect addition ... making note of that now! We felt the cheese we used wasn't strong enough, but it was what was on hand. Thanks for the tip!

Sounds tasty! We have a fig tree and last year stuffed those with blue cheese and wrapped them in prosciutto ... took them out on the boat to watch the fireworks ... delicious!
