To put Dizzy Dust on Brats and Kraut. Second time this week.

Been trying to catch up on some work around the house lately. Then the dryer broke and then last night I pulled the damn cord out the mower. So another busy day for this short term bachelor.

Also been thinkin about the other night and realized that some may take me the wrong way and some may even ignore me. That's par for the course and I'm kinda used to it. I looked at my phone this morning and thought I'd slept for a day and half. Many new e-mails from many great Eggheads. See, I'm not that bigga jerk.

Can't wait to meet as many of you as possible in all the years to come. Including Wess and PBM.

That is great news Eddie. Not sure how many days you'll be here. But our Grouse population has spiked up 44% this year and it is going to be a great season in the woods. I need to check on the season dates.

    Thanks man,

    Hey Adam,

OUCH!! That poor mower, how do you think it feels? smiley-chores044.gif
I used to think pull starters were the bane of my existence. Chain saws, mowers, outboards, I could break the best of them.

"short term bachelor"??? When was the last time you did a head count around there? wave.gif

Glad to see you around, thought you might have done something drastic like firing up the gasser or buying some briquettes or mowing the lawn.

Head count  Now thats funny. The little ones have been down in Arkansas with my parents for a couple weeks. Back on the 3rd. Our hot little momma will be back for a week in late July. We will then be approaching the mid-way point of her deployment. Must be having fun, cause time is going faster than expected.

I guess you really are baching it, cool! Did the little ones get tired of you cooking everything on the egg? LOL.

You have a couple dogs to keep you out of trouble don't you? Any photos of them?

I call them the "Girls" and they answer to it as well.

This was one of the first hunts of last year.

This was the last day of our season. 4th of 5th of Jan.

It was our best year for Pheasants in this state for sure. They hunt all birds and even rabbit, Squirrel and mouse around the shop and yard. "Java" is almost all black and "Latte" has the white paws and chest. They are almost 10 people years old. They are a cross bread of Lab and German Shorthair. I hope to get the same mix for the rest of my life.

Great looking dogs, I bet they love to hunt. I grew up with Labs, they are addictive. One of the best dogs ever was a Yellow Lab/Golden Retriever mix. He was about 100# of pure muscle, most of it heart. He was an abused dog when I got him at one year old, he had been badly beaten. It took close to a year of close work to get his head screwed back on straight but in the end he was #1. He learned to love everybody and everybody loved him. He wished I would have taken up hunting cause he was a natural. He would point on everything from tennis balls to box turtles. His idea of a retrieve was to bring a ball or what ever back to you and spit it out at your feet, then stand there and look at you as if to say "What's next?". I don't have any digital photos of him and very few regular, the memories are good enough. He was an amazing animal in every sense of the word. I decided it was to hot down here for Labs, the heat and humidity is hard on them, the fleas down here are a year round terror and keeping pets is getting expensive. My legs don't get me around like they use to and it would be difficult if not impossible to give a dog enough exercise, one thing I am adamant about.

Thanks for sharing, great looking dogs and photos.

  • Man that looks like it was a hoot! :) Here are my boys, The Lab is a natural hunter and quite an athlete. The only thing he gets to hunt is dove on occasion but he will retrieve anything even 5' or 6'of water on the bottom. He actually does have a tail but it never stops.
The Beagle is a rabbit chasseing fool.

LOL, this could turn into a pet thread in a heart beat. Might have to start one.

Great looking dogs Eddie, your Lab looks like a character from the git go. He looks like he has a great sense of humor and will play till he drops. I'm guessing that he is black, I know the sun can lighten up their color. He almost looks like a very dark chocolate, a handsome animal.

I had a Beagle/Terrier mix that had the rabbit fixation too, it's deep in the blood. They can't help it. She was a tinny, little, long legged thing. She had sever hip dysplasia but could run with the best of them. The sound of Beagles on the track of a rabbit is music to my ears.

Are you drining up or flying? Just found out that Grouse opener is the same weekend as the MN fest. That my friend sucks donkeys. I wouldn't miss the fest, but will also try and get in the woods. If it's not too hot.

Great lookin partners in crime. Bringem both and we'll chase some birds early in the week, after the fest.

That sounds fun. I can't allow mine to have anything to do with rabbits (outside the backyard) or it would be trouble in the field. They know the difference. I wanna do a bit hunt and a coon hunt sometime with dogs. Watching good dogs work is an experience in itself. The only thing better will be my little guys behind my dogs.
  • He is a dark choclate and I do believe he would retreive until his heart exploded. The Beagle has the classic Beagle bark.
  • We would be driving. If we make it we would probly stay for a week or so. Just a few weeks after is Eggtoberfest. :woohoo:
  • Hi Adam. You gotta go to Eggtoberfest - the Mac Daddy of all Eggfests!!! It is awesome, can't even begin to describe it.
