Email me Mr Church with your # and I'll be happy to catch you up. If you did a true search you wouldn't be posting this anonymous.

gaskets have always been an expendable, sacrificial item. their original purpose, ca 1965 or so, was to simply cushion the dome when shutting.
that said, a burnt leaking gasket does not affect the performance of the egg. half the old timers here don;t even have gaskets.
sure, they should come up with a permanent solution to the glue issue (temporary, and part of a short run of eggs) or the fact that the gasket can melt (a user- error issue). but if they never fixed it, it would still be a minor issue and wouldn't affect a thinged egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
I'm telling you I think someone has hacked into Pete's log in and it is an imposter... :( it has to be..... someone needs to verify that it really is him!!

I wonder why there is never outrage about the auto igniters on gassers???? or that the burners burn out after a year...... I think they run a little more than the gasket to replace??
-
i bought a car, and four years later had to get new tires. w/t/f?ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante

Auto igniters! I had three gassers before getting an egg and none of the igniters lasted more than a month or two. Matches work just as well and are more fun. Didn't keep me from grilling and neither does a burned, melted gasket. (Of course I don't worry about it anymore since I put the Rutland one on. )
-
Same thing happened to me! Did we both get lemons?
-
rutland, eh? me too.
what i like best about my rutland is that after i die from throat cancer or mesothelioma or asbestosis, my family will be able to sue rutland for not warning me NOT to use it on a grill.
unless i fall off the top step of my ladder first, and they can sue for that.ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
Maybe you should give your family Zippy's number. Just in case.
-
Well, with the 4-5 gasket issues posted per week it's really a moot point when BGE sells over 3000 units per month. Not even worth mentioning but we will still help get it fixed quickly.
-
no one posts "hey. my gasket is just fine"
hahahaed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
With or without a gasket problem it is the best product on the market!!!
-
Hey, my gasket is just fine! (It's a Rutland)

Now there's a man with a plan.

You expect a troll who posts anonymously to get a loving welcome? The Naked Whiz

Every once in a while a turd lands in the punchbowl.

No, sir, I do not. But IMHO, it is a fair question given the problems with the gaskets. What's wrong with one civil answer instead of suspecting a troll because of an anonymous post and attacking immediately. There are legitimate reasons for not joining a forum.
Wasn't there a sicky post several weeks ago about dealing with trolls? People here feel compelled to respond to any posts which are not complimentary to BGE. Why not just ignore them and let the admins deal with it. -
offliner wrote:There are legitimate reasons for not joining a forum?
And what are those?
There have been plenty of anonymous folk posting with civil responses and also a welcoming hand.
When someone jumps in and slams the eggs or in an off handed way attempts to slam and egg, they are going to get an onslaught of responses from people who love the egg. Even people that have had gasket problems who continue to love and use the eggs.
If people jump in and keep posting negative comments under guest name or guest names then don't piss and moan when the forum members respond.
You post under offliner, why not use your name when you made your post?
GG
If you want respect or you want others to have respect then have the personal courage to use your forum name or at least get and use a forum username.
I used to be against making requiring someone to be registered to post, more and more I am moving to the other camp. -

GG, I guess he missed the Beli's thread, huh? Oh well....The Naked Whiz
-
He missed a lot of threads. The tone and object of his post seems just to aggravate.
I don't mind a lot of the posts when they are sincere questions or statements. When the people post as a guest the post just becomes a lot more questionable.

GG....As I am sure you know, I am an advocate for having people be registered before posting. And trust me, this is NOT any kind of challenge...I am just curious. :ermm: Why not have them register before they can post? It is not like it costs any money to sign up!? They can still observe! Honestly, I would love to hear a different perspective. Once again, I just respect your opinion, and would like to hear it from the other perspective.
Honestly.... nothing to read between the lines here.
Thanks!!! -
Some people have great questions and don't want to register. I think it just leaves the forum a little more open.
However, every once in a while a post like this comes along. The more I see this type of post the more I am thinking register to post is a better choice.
Any more it does not make much difference to me one way or the other.
The way the forum is now is a direct result of a forum mayhem a while back.

I haven't had a single major gasket issue HONESTLY since I started egging in 06'. My Large egg gasket is very thin but it still keeps the temp just fine :woohoo: I cook out 3-5 nights a week maybe more
I think the real issue for me is how did I ever make it without my eggs' in the first place :P
