10 hrs later on a 3.5lb boston butt. Smokey taste all the way thru. Took out at 180 with the fork taste. Pulled fine. Another 10 degrees would have been perfect. But I got too hungry to wait.

Can't beat the guru or stoker. Lit the coals, put in the meat, closed the lid. guru did the rest. no babysitting to stabilize the temps or anything.

The Lid open feature and power outage retaining memory sold me on the guru. Besides, the guru is brain dead simple to set up. With the cyber, you could monitor two meats or two different eggs.

I was at the store looking at the guru. He has tons of unusual bbq tools. You can call him up and have it shipped.

Your Butt looks great , but i cant understand why it took ten hrs, i can do a 3.5 lb in just over 3 hrs at 250 dome and 200 int. with a digiQ. always less than 1 hr per lb.

I did not understand either. My stomach was hurting waiting for it to get done. I will check the probe calibration tomorrow to see if its reading correctly, but I think its fine. Its readings were consistently 25degrees less than dome at food level, which is about right. Maybe the cut of meat I had, more meat than fat. but in the end, it was worth the wait.
