Any quick remedies to get rust off of a Dutch Oven. I slacked off and forgot to clean it, and now there's rust on the inside.

Hit it with an SOS or copper scrubber and re-season.

Thanks, maybe I'll write a Country/Western song about it and make some money.

No NO NO don't use anything with Soap in it..
Sandpaper works well.. Dry salt paper towel works too. -
I forgot the salt trick, good one CW.I thought you only stayed away from soap if you were not gonna re-season it.Does it screw it up if you ever use soap? BTW there was a post earlier today about seasoning and re-seasoning cast iron utensils.

I know people have done it but I don't recommend it.

Using soap removes the seasoning on cast iron. Cooking and proper cleaning enhances the seasoning. Many feel the better the seasoning the better the pan.
There is a lot of different methods, the following works for me.
To remove rust that is not very deep in cast iron, use equal amounts of salt and vegetable oil in the pan. Use a paper towel and scrub. For more serious rust use very fine "000" steel wool.
Wash out with liquid dish washing detergent and hot water. Rise well with hot water and dry.
To season rub the pan with vegatible oil, inside and out. Put in a 250° oven for 30 minutes (or egg dome 275° dome). At 30 minutes re-coat the pan and leave in for another 30 minutes. I sometimes coat again and go another 30 minutes. The third coat will depend on the look of the pan.
Oil inside and out of the pan/oven/skillet.
Using extreme high heat to clean may warp or even crack the cast iron.

For more information check thirdeye's post below to another DO post. He has a link to some great information and a bit of history.
At the time of this post it at the bottom of this page (of course that will change with a few more posts/responses).

Cook in it. A little iron won't hurt. Seriously wipe with mineral oil or vegtable oil and then cook in it. Clean with just clear water and then oil lightly if you are not going to use it every day or at leasst twicw a week.
