Along came a spider ...
Pepper Monkey BBQ
Posts: 652
The FedEx truck pulled in at 5 pm tonight ... we are now the proud new owners of a spider and wok for the large!
By 6 I had the wok fairly well seasoned
By 7 we were enjoying our first chicken stir fry. What a great taste and how wonderful to keep the hot oil smell OUT of the kitchen! We are very excited to do some experimenting. Thanks to everyone for the advice/recommendations.

That looks SO good!!!! Where did you get your wok?
-
Wow, nice job! Even got some Sriracha going on. Great looking chicken dish and pot stickers!
-
Nice cook! Did you do the dumplings out there, too? I have that same oil bottle
-
WOW does that ever look good! Nice cook!
Dang I'm gonna have to get one those spider thingy... -
Wok and Spider came from www.ceramicgrillstore.com.
-
We didn't cook them out there, but when we were plating I said, "Why didn't we just toss those on the wok after the chicken came off?" ... next time!

Fed Ex brought yours...Mother Nature brought this big boy! That was a shocker to say the least!

Put it on a skewer ... maybe some grape smoke??? !!!
-
 perfect comeback

Nice cook, so what kind of oil is that? Peanut? I have been on the ceramic website for the last couple of hours studying which rig to get and trying to decide if I really need ALL that the adjustable rig offers. :woohoo: Well of course I do.

Grape Vine makes a great flavor smoke.

That sure is a nice looking cook there. Sure hope it tasted as good as it looked.

.
Mark,
Other than the Thermapen, the adjustable rig and spider is the most used accessory I have ever purchased for the egg.

Realized we didn't have peanut oil when it was too late ... went with simple canola and it was still delicious ... peanut would certainly make it even better I'm sure!
-
very nice cook. btw, do you have to lift the wok out to dish or do you leave it in until it has cooled?? thanks
-
Kent, Well I got the Thermopen today from the UPS man so I guess the adjustable and spider are next.
Sorry to hi-jack for a second there. -
I would've screamed like a school girl seeing that thing in my Egg. LOL
-
Congratulations, I am jealous. Glad you got your thermapen. You will enjoy the spider/AR combo as well. You might as well order the Wok from tjv at the same time it isn't very expensive and you have large items that it can ship with to save on postage.
Get the extra grids and support bars also.

Can someone post a picture of just the spider, I am curious as to what it looks like. Does it sit on the fire ring?

Kent, I noticed in a earlier note you mentioned the same thing. How do you use the Spider? -
I use the spider in most of my cooks.
I thought I had more pictures of the spider where you can see the spider. But...
Here are some of my uses of the spider.
