I made these for the market this weekend. They were pretty good. I didn't sell a lot tho. I'm serving a Waldorf parent hippy crowd who like to pretend they're vegan. Wish I'd known a bit more about the demographics before I bought the Egg. :unsure:

Anyway, here's how you make them:

Wrap a hot dog in bacon and then bbq it. Then wrap it, along with your favorite salsa and some cheese, in a flour tortilla. You can serve it that way but I find it improves things to put the whole bundle back on the grill for a minute to warm the tortilla.

Don't forget to remove the toothpicks from the hot dog before you wrap it in the tortilla. That's what I did with my first one and had to run over to the guy and let him know before he ate it and choked to death! :blush:

    No photos because I've only cooked them at the market which isn't conducive to photo-taking. Plus, since they're hidden in a tortilla, it isn't much to look at photo-wise.

    I used the big tortilla because people who buy food at the market don't like it dripping on them and making a mess (learned that the first day) and using the larger tortilla helps this a little bit because it's large enough you can fold it up envelope style with one end closed up instead of just folding it in half with both ends open.

    What does demographics have to do with buying an egg. Was the egg purchase solely for selling food at events?

    Yeah, I have an Egg at home. I bought this one solely to use for the market. There's a building I can lock it up in during the week and I just wheel it out on market day.

    Soups have been pretty well received but I think as summer comes on with the warm weather and all (altho we can always count on some really cold summer days here in the PNW), soup will be not as popular.

    I do think this crowd might really go for chicken and beef skewers tho. And definitely vegie skewers. (Tofu skewers?!? :blink: )

    They might also go for stir fry if I could come up with some good ones. I have never done stir fry. I think I even gave away all our woks. Altho cleaning out the garage is on the list for this week so maybe I'll get lucky and discover I actually kept one!

    Tons of veggie foods can be made on the egg. I do peppers, eggplant, squash, etc and all gain flavor from a little hickory and or apple smoke. Flat bread on the egg taste great and even bbq firm tofu can be a hit. Give it a try.

    Yup, demographics is important in this case.

    If the local people visit the market, look around in the market and local fast food joints and see what is popular (sells well). Hopefully you can adapt and make something better tasting on the egg.

    There are no fast food restaurants here. Not allowed. That alone gives you an idea of the type of place. (One of the reasons we moved here!)

    I have high hopes for the skewers. Will report back next week.

    Since you have family here, you'll be wanting to come out on 6/13 for the PNW Eggfest!

    Can't make it there in June. My wife is running in a local 1/2 marathon that day.

    We will be in Seattle mid August, as my daughter will be participating in her first Triathlon - the Danskin in Genesee Park.

    Where is the market where you cook - on Whidbey? Saturdays?

    Might be able to work out coming by while there (Aug 15).

    I work at one market on Saturdays and another on Sundays. If that's County Fair weekend, I might not work tho. But no matter what, and even if you don't come on a weekend, if you want to come out to the Island for some fun, we'd love to have you guys over for a meal or something, so keep in touch.
