All I know is that I have three of them and love em!!!

I have heard good things and for 40 bucks I guess you can't go wrong.
-
I've spent more for less!!!

Anyone know where I can find one in Canada? I found it at home hardware ($65) and can't order it online. Closest home hardware is 1 hour away!
-
I've had my ET-73 quite a while now. Works great. Got it from Amazon (free shipping). Glad I did it.

Hi Maxim:
I bought one yesterday at OGBBQ for $59.00 (cdn) less 10% promotional discount.
If you don't find one before the Cdn fest, I'm sure someone can pick one up for you and bring it to the fest.
That being said, I'm sure they're available at a QC BBQ shop.

Thanks Michael,
Guess I need to let my fingers do the walking
Believe it or not, not too many real bbq shops here in QC. Most are pool guys with fancy Napoleon's or Vermont Castings. There is a BBQ Superstore but he is also close to 1 hour from where I live. I guess I simply live too far

Also note that you can be thrown off by the packaging.
The "Maverick ET-73" packaging (at least on the one I bought)says Redi Check top left with a Maverick logo bottom right. The only reference I saw to ET-73 was on the back of the box in fairly small lettering. (I think - easy to miss).
Good luck !

Good to know, thank you. I'll keep that in mind when shopping around.
-
I like my Maverick but there is a 8-10 degree difference between it and my Thermapen.
-
What is the difference?
-
I was looking for packing that said Maverick ET-73.
I walked by the package several times as there's also a logo for Redi Check (top left) and the large picture of the device says Ready Check as well.
I didn't realize that I should be looking for readyt check as well.
Michael -
Where did you find one locally?
-
OGBBQ in Vaughan, Ontario

I think it says ET-73C. "C" is for Canadian edition with bilingual packaging and instructions?

I e-mailed Marerick about the difference between the ET 73 and the Ready Check and this was the response.
"The ET-73 has a food probe and a smoker probe. The smoker probe is shorter and used to read the ambient temperature of the grill. The redi checks only have food probes". -
I take that back I think I may have got some bad info from Marverick? :ermm:
-
The unit I got has both probes.
I'm sure it has something to do with the Cdn packaging.
Who knows, maybe they're promoting the name "redi check" in Cda.

The lady at thepartsshelf.com checked it and it was a ready Check model ET73 with a meat probe and a grid probe. So what ever it is I got two coming.

I just got my mavrick et73 through Amazon. $46. arrived in 2 days. It has a grill clip for the smoker temp. I have a lg BGE and know I don't want to measure temp at grill. Where and how is the best place to position the temp to read dome temp without removing the gauge that comes with the BGE?
I was thinking I could take the top vent cap off, hang it in the dome from there, then put the cap back on. Would that work well?
dropping thru vent cap didn't seem to work to well. Big diff between temp on dome gauge and the air temp gauge on the maverick.
Any help appreciated.
