FIrst try at CWM Baby backs

This is my first try at baby backs and I am using Carwash Mike's instructions on Thirdeye's website. I wanted to see how hard it was to cook 6 racks of BB's on my Large.
Prepped the ribs per the instructions, left in the frig for 1 hour, and I have just put them on the Egg, using an inverted V-rack with some pieces on the sides and top of the other racks. Of course, the mandatory brewskies are also being consumed and I think the yard will get mowed in between the hourly spritzings.
I didn't have chunks of fruit wood, so 2 double handfuls of Apple chips went on just before the ribs. So much smoke I could hardly see!
I am using my BBQ Guru so i can keep the temp carefully regulated at 200 grid for now.
Thanks, Mike for the help.

 man,Clark, you do like to live dangerously!!
brews and lawnmowing
;
first try at baby backs and ....wanted to see how hard it was to cook 6 racks of BB's on my Large :woohoo:
...probably using the backpack fire lighting method introduced by Omba, too!!!! :woohoo: -
Good luck Clark. My first BB are on today also. I had a devil of a time removing the membrane. It kept tearing in small pieces.
-
Thanks for the encouragement - NO, didn't use the defective backpack lighting method! LOL
Hoss, cut me some slack, ole boy. The pics are in the camera, will put them all up at the end.
Tarheel - I tried the 'start in the middle' technique and like you, struggled a little, but used a paper towel to get a good grip. I have used a catfish skinner in the past. It works great - will have to see if I can find it. :(
Oops, gotta go do the first apple juice/cider vinegar spritz...........
BTW, the Princess can't seem to understand why I can't tell her EXACTLY when they will be done for supper! (4-6 hours dearest)..... -
Please post a link to ThirdEye's website. Thanks.
-
MisippiEgger, what does a catfish skinner look like?
-
Here you go:

Start at one end, grab the membrane and yank it off, usually in one piece! -
MisippiEgger,
Well, well will wonders ever cease. I think I'll have to raid my father's tackle box and give it a try........I think I'll clean it off real good first.   Thanks for the pic.....that was quick! -
follow car mike wash i did there
were great!! -
Hmmm . . . Beers + Lawnmower
Sounds like a recipe for some trauma later.
I'm on call, Clark, but I'm guessing you're a little out of my age range. Looking forward to pics later.(of ribs, not bloody stumps
)
Here's my latest rib endeavor--made them for my Mom when whe came down from western PA last week:
Had to have her make some of her potato salad as well:
-
I already had the pic on photobucket from an earlier post.

Hope he has one in his tackle box - they work great. I think I got mine at a Wally world, but it's been a long time ago. -
Chris, great looking ribs!
I think I'm out of your ER age range !!
See if next Saturday (6/6) will work for you for a cook at the BGE store. -
I shoulda known. -
That might work--I'm off call. Have to check with my social director, as it is anniversary weekend. :silly:
-
Oops. Might not work, then. We can do it another time.
Wife is in the Half Marathon at Renaissance on the 13th.
I'm on call the 20th and have 1st b'day party for grandbaby on 27th.
