OT - Babbel Language Training

Has anyone had any experience with Babbel?

I want to learn a language I'm not totally familiar with, possibly Spanish or even English (I grew up in Louisiana so I didn't learn it properly). Seems the right thing to do.

They just offered me some kind of beta trial for 3 months for free. Free sounds good but I'm becoming more suspicious these days of what "free" actually means.

Any comments would be deeply depreciated.

There are a bunch of podcasts from a Brit expat and his Spanish wife, who live in Madrid. The go from beginner to advanced. Of course it's not the Mex, Latin American Spanish that is mostly spoken here, but close enough. You can buy workbooks, but the podcasts are free, and are quite good IMHO.

I already know how to say "si" when the waiter asks if I want another Margarita. I figure I only have about 800,000 more words to learn. Then learn how to use them in a sentence. Then I can go visit Beli and Pato.

My coworkers/friends from Mexico at both the lumberyard and in the hospital have helped bridge the communication gap on numerous occasions.

I have heard good things about Rosetta Stone, the reviews on their website are good too. I am trying to convince a couple students to invest

Levels 1-5 is $700. A little pricey, but credit hours at the local college and books are too
