Took the kids blueberry picking last weekend and have a ton of the little buggers. Any ideas? Preferrably desserts. Can they be frozen for later use? Thanks in advance.

Love dem blueberrys.
We get them and freeze what we dont use right away. They do fine frozen.
Blueberry Pie is our favorite or on ice cream but my most favorite is just eating the blueberrys all by them selves.

I will try to find my apple sausage recipe and you can replace the apples with blueberries. Jay has cooked some blueberry sausage at eggfets and it is pretty darn good.
Cabelas also has cobbler pots that would work great for desserts. Has everything you need but blueberries.

They freeze great. If you wash them first, freeze them on cookie sheets then put in freezer bags. They are great right out of the freezer as a snack, still frozen.

:P Pancakes with fresh blueberries in the batter :silly: Had some yesterday!

Do you like cornbread or corn muffins? You can dust the blueberries with flour (this stops them from sinking to the bottom) and add to the batter. Cook just a tick longer than normal because of the extra moisture. If you have a heavy biscuit or muffin pan you can bake them on your Egg using the plate setter.
If you buy (or have access to) the Jiffy Brand cornbread, in the little boxes, look and see if they have Jiffy Yellow Cake mix. It is in the same size box but next to the other cake mixes. Combine the two, following the mixing instructions on the boxes. This is a wonderful combination for a sweeter cornbread. It's really good with the blueberries.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
Knauf,
Since it has been a few days, you have probably already washed them. But for the future -Do NOT wash blueberries that you plan to freeze. Sort out the unripe ones and the leaves, then put them directly into freezer baggies. Not washing them allows the natural coating on them to protect them and also minimizes them sticking together. You can then wash them when you thaw them later.
My father has many blueberry bushes and for years we have put up gallons every spring for continual use throughout the year. We keep a baggie in the freezer door, take out what ever we need as we need it, leaving the rest in the bag for tomorrow. Use them daily in cold cereal, pancakes, etc. They thaw very quickly. -

You're going to be there too? I'm going to try to get there. If I do come, I'll bring you a really loud flame cap for your collection.Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
That is the plan. I'm pretty sure my scheduling conflict is over. Can never have enough loud do rags.
