Does anyone have a few tricks to share about adding woodchips during a cook when you have a plate setter in.
Do you need to remove the plate setter?
What do you set it and the grid on?
Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

Just sprinkle them around all three sides and you are good to go.

I just mix wood chunks in the lump when I'm preparing for the cook. That way when the fire finally reaches the wood the smoke starts again. OTOH is there more to your question that perhaps we can help you with? Some folks think they need to smoke meat for hours only to find that process can create bitterness.

  • You could make an aluminum foil slide and pour them in...but I agree with RRP, mix it in with your lump pre cook and then you are good to go.

Mix the wood or chips in at different levels when putting in the lump. There is no reason to add wood during a cook with a BGE, unlike other smokers....also do not soak your wood or chips either....
