I just started another overnight Boston Butt. Even though my night with interrupted sleep will be worth it, I'll be getting the BBQ Guru sooner rather than later! Will post pics tomorrow.

    'sooner than later'

Unless you are pretty close to the egg pick up a Maverick ET-73 along with the q2. Even though you know the q2 is doing it job just fine. It sure is nice to look over at the bed stand and see where the temperature is at and then roll back over and going to sleep.

I've got the maverick 72 right on my night stand..still have to make sure the egg is at the right temp, though. Tonight, my temps have been all over the place...checked it earlier and it was reading 198 dome temp, made a slight adjustment, checked 30 mins later and it's reading 325*. Made another adjustment but since it takes forever for the egg to cool down, what is one to do... take a nap or drink a beer? Opted for the beer. :S Updates forthcoming.

give the egg more time to settle in between vent adjustments.

On my large bottom vent 1/8" to 1/4" open. DFMT slider closed and if bottom vent is 1/8" then petals open 1/3 if bottom vent is 1/3" then petals 1/4 open. That will put the dome about 250° to 260°.

The common problem with cooling the egg off on overnighters is killing the lump completely.

LOL... I was on the old board for a long time but the other counts didn't transfer over to this board. But thank you, didn't realize the number was that high over here.

Just be careful that your lump doesn't go out.

    What is your temperature now?
