Hello - i am the wife and logged on to my husbands account. I am spoiled because i no longer have to cook when my husband is home, but i am wondering if anyone has some good advice that i could pass on to "the boss" for cooking sauteed green beans or broccoi as a side on the BGE. he has never cooked any veggie besides potatoes. cooking instructions would be appreciated. have a great day - it's beautiful here in iowa - we're having bge chicken sandwiches for lunch - yum!!!

One way is to wrap in heavy duty aluminum foil with a little water, seasoning and tad of butter. Wrap and throw on BGE 30 minutes or so depending on temperature of BGE. 350 and higher is ideal.
Or you could toss them around in a heated skillet or wok and kinda stir fry. -
My wife does not like "grilled" vegys but has gotten used to not cooking much any more. So I do broccoli, asparagus & green beans on the BGE.
I wrap the vegy in aluminum foil and put a pat of butter, or margarine or olive oil on the vegys and wrap loosely. I usually cook the vegys at the same time I am cooking the other items. Since the vegy is in AF there is no smoke and they cook up very nicely.
I hope this helps and I am sure others will chime in with their techniques... -
grilled broccoli alone is only fair ... green beans on hte other hand are great,, drizzle with a little olive oil, s&p put on one of those disposable wire mesh racks and toss on the egg while the meat is resting .. just like asparagus.. slower cook gives cooked with out char i prefer a bit of char , like asparagus it is hard to wreck
what follows is slide show of chicken over veggies our favorite summer cook

No eggsperience with green beans or broccoli.
But, I often cook yellow squash and zucchini. Split lengthwise, coat with EVOO and either SP or a good rub, then grill briefly, turning once. They should be softened, but not "squishy".
Asparagus is another of our favorites. Brush with EVOO, one of Dizzy Pig's rubs, or lemon pepper or just S&P. You can cook on a veggie grid or make a raft by sticking 2 toothpicks through 4 or 5 spears (top and bottom). Easy to turn on grid and doesn't drop through.
Good luck!
