Starting butt on Egg... finishing in oven...

I did this with a few of the butts I did at Christmas. I let them cook for 6 hrs on the BGE and then I put them in the oven at 300 until the butts hit 192... -
A guy I work with does it that way, but I go duration on the Egg. He gets done a little faster but I have not tasted his cooks. I can't see it beeing better mabe just faster. IDUNO.

Thanks Kim! I'm trying to get a lot of pork done in a short period... (you know the story) When you finished in oven... did you wrap it in foil in oven? I was wondering if it would dry out...

I wrapped the butts in foil when I put them in the oven. I used a meat thermometer to get to 192. After the butts hit that temp I wrapped them one more time and put them in a towel for 2 hours before I pulled them.

How did they turn out Kim/ I could see the need sometime for a turbo cook. Just want to put the idea in my hip pocket.

They turned out great. Since I had smoked them for 6 hours in pecan & cherry on the BGE they had a good smoked flavor. They only took about 2 more hours in the oven.

He will be doing up 10 or 12 this month for a big wing ding at work. I turned him on to the Adjustable Rig for his large and he was all over it. He will be able to get them all done in a few days that way. I offered to help him out with my two big boys but he said he could handle it.

Why not just do the same thing in the Egg?
You could raise the temp to 300*, wrap in foil and should get the same result. -
