Can I soak apple wood in apple juice prior to smoking ribs? Has anyone tried it?

Worth a try. I did not have apple chunks last week and I saw a recipe where Apple quarters were scattered with the wood chips. I tried it seemed to work great and you could smell the apples in the smoke.

Dry the wood as best you can, and drink the apple juice!
Cheers!

You could soak the wood in anything you want.
What are you trying to accomplish? I agree with NB - don't waste the juice, just smoke with the wood. -
You could ..but the sugars in the apple juice would burn and give you an off taste!

I agree with the above... save the liquid for something else and add chips or chunks as is...

Try it why not, people have done stranger things. I do not think the juice soak will make a difference. Personally I only soak chips (in water), wood chunks go into the egg dry.

I’m with the dry team! I only added soaked smoke wood once (to an Egg) and didn’t like the outcome!
If I do use chips and only if they are very fine, I will soak in water, but then it’s into a foil packet too.
My 2 cents…
