What not to do, damn. :angry:

Put different kinds of planks away without labeling them. (Alder/Cedar,etc)
Run out of propane, not starter cubes, newspaper won't burn, only smolders. At least the paper towel/oil trick finally worked after about 4 tries. I find it messy but that's probably just me.

I must have messed around for 1/2 an hour before getting it going. Ah, the life of an Egger. :S

    if the paper towel gag is too messy, then you used too much oil. don't 'soak'.

    slight drizzle. the paper should be translucent, like when you put fries or chips in a paper bag.

    you aren't lighting with paper, and you aren't lighting with oil. it's the paper and oil together that do it. ease off on the oil and it will burn clean fast and hot
