What is the best way to transport a Large BGE?
Buying large demo at Texas Egg Fest, will drive a pick-up. What do I need to bring to transport? Do you keep shell together and pack insides in a box?
Trip is app 50 miles.
My small came in a box and was delivered to the door.
Thanks

I would bring a sturdy cardboard box and some newspaper to stuff under and between the ceramic interior parts just to keep 'em from bouncing. The box will help keep all the broken parts from littering the highway and the newspaper will blow out the back of your truck and help some poor homeless person sleep well at night LOL...

Or you could just take some old towels and strap it in your passenger seat. Oh wait, your date will be sitting there.

I'm sure you will figure something out.

    You're welcome.

Make sure you have a couple of cargo straps. If you need to borrow some just let me know. After you use that truck to deliver your egg can I buy it as a used demo at a good price!!!!

I bought a large egg at an eggfest last year. I loaded the large egg in my Durango with all the ceramic pieces (fire box an fire ring) still inside the egg. I did take off the daisy wheel and tied the egg to secure it inside the car. I placed blankets between the egg and the side of the car. I traveled 40 miles with the egg this way and had no problems. Good luck.
  • Picked up my demo Egg at the mothership last October. They had me use opposing straps wrapped around the chimney. Used the good strong ratcheting straps, one on each side and hooked on the truck's tie-down hooks high on the inside of the bed walls. I think I took out the firebox and padded around the Egg also for some of that "first Egg, can't be too careful" effect. Put in the bed closest to the cab for minimal bounce.
