Hadn't seen any gasket posts today, so I just wanted to wish everyone a good day.

Yer funny! I opened it up thinking, "I know a couple Eggheads who are going to be ticked already this morning."
-
I wanted to start a thread titled "Who here has NOT had a gasket fail".
-
ME. Not one in 9 years & only on my 2'nd one on the oldest egg. Only changed it because I didn't like the way it looked.
-
Me too! Mine died of "natural causes" a few years back but I still do pulled pork without any problem.
-
No problem on ether my eggs.
-
Pat,
I've smoked a couple...but I never inhaled

 Ok, I admit gasket threads can be tedious, but they will continue until this is fixed. It is just human nature to want to **** when a brand new toy breaks.
For the record, my nomex and 3M Super 77 replacement gasket held up just fine for a 600 degree kabob cook last night. I even had it at 700 briefly. Recently people asked if the nomex and Super 77 has ever failed. I still haven't heard of a case, so let's continue to hope.
You people with the old gaskets that last forever should be happy. Just reserve some courteous pity for those less fortunate than yourselves, especially the new eggers just joining our community. :( -
Ahhhhh, my day is now complete. I can go back to bed.

I think I read in the last couple of days, of someone who replaced their car door with a rutland gasket and rubber cement! :woohoo:

Did I say something? I've been through my share of gaskets and I have three eggs in boxes that I expect problems with. I toasted the one on my mini first time out. I am sympathetic to those with problems

No, nothing bad said here. But some of the other gasket threads were a little less sensitive to new eggers with failed gaskets. I never took offense, but some did.

Probably someone from Arizona or Vegas, gets pretty hot in those two places.
