What is your favorite way to prep a steak before grilling? Marinade or Rub? What do you use?

Rub -- Dizzy Pig Raising the steaks.. Sometimes Redeye Express..
-
I use Dizzy rubs occasionally, but favorite remains a combo of Cavender's Greek Seasoning and Montreal Steak.

Rub, DP's Cowlick. I never marinate a good steak only the cheaper cuts but thats just me.

Have to agree with you salt and pepper is all that you need to the beef flavor come through.Good meat in my opinion is getting harder to find these days. Was a day when choice tasted real good now it seems today the flavor is not there any more.Just my thought.

Ok, I'm just going to tag in here. First, I would agree with DP Cowlick I never marinade a great steak either.
Before my Dizzy Pig I just used 2Tbsp kosher salt, 1Tbsp black pepper, and 1 Tbsp garlic powder. It was great, but Dizzy is better (I just had to order it in, couldn't wait for a steak).
I have a question about hot tubbing.
I saw a post that had steaks in the actual hot tub, thought it was a joke, then read today about hot tubbing them in hot tap water for 45 minutes. What does that do? -
It starts to break down the fat and warm up the center without actually cooking it.

Makes sense, just never heard of it before. Thank you.

When you like your steaks raw like I do it's the best method to cook a steak..

That outer 1/8 inch of gray ring around the meat is gone.Pink from top to bottom.
-
I like to mix a bit of EVOO and Worcestershire Sauce, coat the steaks with this and cover with Montreal Steak Seasoning while I let it get to room temp.

Just did one tonight. Soaked in teraki ( i can't spell) sauce and then Dizzy Pig Raising the steaks rub. Perfect taste, just to bad Krogers meat is such poor quality :(

My latest favorite is this:
Sams prime strips cut in cubes.
Marinated in Italian dressing.
Put on skewers.
Hot fire on the egg.
Tasty.
Veggies on a different skewer.
Thank me later.
