Cornbread Throwdown - Ocala
Spring Chicken
Posts: 10,255
With all this talk about a 'cornbread throwdown' between Celtic Wolf and Crimsongator at the upcoming Florida Eggfest, I thought I would show y'all what might be on the table...
This is my first attempt at Crimsongator's recipe some time back and it was good.

And here's some I made using Celtic Wolf's recipe, and it was good.

I'm not choosing sides because these are two entirely different recipes, both of which are Eggcellent.
Those of you who plan to be at Florida Eggfest are in for a treat.

I haven't tasted Celtic Wolf's but I did taste Crimsongator's jalepeno cornbread at Eggtoberfest and it was very awesome. I kept dragging total strangers over to his tent to taste it. I requested the recipe, but never recieved it.
If Celtic Wolf is coming to Ocala, I will happily be the judge in the throwdown.

Care to share the recipes for either?
-
 Thats if they don't beat each other up first
. Now that Celtic Wolf has teamed up with Sundown and Crimsongator is teamed with Egret I expect there is going to be quite a sideshow and worth the price of admission :woohoo: I have ringside, I mean front row seats. -
Pat,
What are you getting for odds in the fistfight.

If there is a stare down my money is on Pete.....

I volunteered to be a Judge in a contest one time. They gave me a cap that said "JUDGE" on it. No sooner than I started wearing the cap a guy asked me what I planned to do about crime.
"Judging" isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I'm pretty sure they will chime in and give you some details, possibly including the secret ingredient. I would't give up the secret for anything.

Egret at 4 to 1 odds. Never bet against us little guys.

But you might get a surprise visit from "the chicken" to straighten things out
-
No surprise visits from The Chicken. I'm prep'n for Oklahoma and Texas Eggfests.
But I trust that you will hold down the Bloody fort, if you know what I mean...

Leroy,
That'd be the Bloody Caesar fort.

You Canadians can call it what you want but you need a good southern boy to show you how to make them

Do I see a "Bloody" throwdown in the making? This Eggfest may have to go on for days.... :silly:
-
I may have to warm up the Company Lear Jet and come down for that. Assuming the Texas Lottery Commission releases some of my funds.

Now you did - gotta geaux make some corn bread.
BTW - a slice of jalapeno fell in your beans  -
-
Leroy,
I'll swing by in mine to pick you and Spring Hen up on the way down. With the same proviso about Lottery Canada. The 37 mil tonight oughta get me a nice one.

Best Dang Cornbread
Feel free to add Jalapenos to this recipe for a superior Jalepeno Cornbread. :woohoo: -
You didn't mention anything about the difference in "cultured" buttermilk and "real" buttermilk.
Like you said, there is a difference.

Just looking at your web site and under cornbread i found:
Cornbread
1 1/2 cups plain cornmeal
1/2 cup flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
The question is have you ever used 1/2 cup of cornmill flour for the flour?
I have started using cornmill flour about 6 months ago and it really adds to the cornbread.
Just thought I would toss that out.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given another Mini to add to the herd. -
You are absolutely right Leroy I did leave that out. Modifying it now..
-
I haven't tried it, but nothing wrong with it..
Well accept it would add more simple carbs to my diet than I need. -
Oh oh oh oh!!! Corn bread and Chile!! It does not get any better  HMMMM Sundown and Celtic :S I am not to sure about this???? I have a large pot for one and two bottles for the other!!! we might all end up with a little chili dust on us!
-

I will get the recipe out after Ocala. I am trying to trade it for spawn's brownie recipe, but no luck yet :(
-
Good luck with that mud crawler..
