Anybody had any experience with this griddle on the Egg? Bayou Classic 14" Round Griddle
I want it, but I don't know that I need it. I figure if I come up with more than a couple of uses for it then it could become a need.
Off the top of my head I think it would be great for:
scallops
blackened anything
bacon and eggs
veggies
Anything else?
Thanks,
Dave

I use mine as the heat barrier for some indirect cooks. Have to isolate your drip pan from it to keep liquids from burning. You will have to cut off the ears if you use the spider. Works well for all the other things you listed also.

I love mine and use it all the time. I need to cut off the handles for using on the spider though. How do people typically do this? Any tips?

I just cut them off with a hacksaw and filed the cuts smooth. Not saying it is a work of art but it fits on the spider and works.

Dave, I say go for it. I wouldn't give up my square one.....you can do about anything on those things.

ok - now I gota go get one of those.

I've got one. It is not pre-seasoned and it was a pain to get a decent seasoning on it, but otherwise it is a great griddle - especially for the price.

Mine is the lodge brand, 10-1/2 inch, reversable. As long as you're shopping for cast iron cookware, look these up.

Frank, try the Academy on 336. That’s where I got mine.

True, the Bayou Classic 14 inch Round Griddle isn't pre-seasoned. But I'm one of those types who would rather do it myself so I know what is on it. In any event, the Bayou is two sided, so it can be used for many things. The round 14 inch size and shape is perfect for my egg!

Ordered it today. Thanks all!Food & Fire - The carnivorous ramblings of a gluten-free grill geek.

I have a 14" Lodge Cast Iron pizza pan that works well on the large egg. It also has loop handles that prevent it from being used on the Spider. I just put it directly on the grate at the fire box level and it works out great for me. I am considering cutting off the handles so I can use it on the spider and also on a raised grid....the handles are just big enough to keep the lid from lowering all the way on Tom's set-up.
I will say the handles are handy for getting the hot pan in and out of the egg.
