Sorry - no pics. Too busy cooking and visiting - forgot to take the pics!
Yesterday was my birthday and since I had bought some lobster tails on sale at 'The Fresh Market' here, I decided to cook lobster tails, shrimp, asparagus and roasted potatos (oven). My best friend from high school, Clay, and my brother, who's wife is out of town, joined Jana and me in this celebration of my ** th birthday.
First the side: - asparagus 'rafts' with EVOO and Dizzy Dust. This has turned out to be one of our favorite sides!
Shrimp: Skewered shrimp brushed with EVOO then liberally coated on one side with Swamp Venom :cheer: and on the other side lightly with turbinado sugar. Cooked at 400* direct for 5 minutes with the sugar side down, then turned and cooked an additional 1-2 min. on the SV side. I slid them off the skewers (after burning the cr*p out of my finger on the metal skewer)
into a pan with bubbling butter, lemon juice and minced garlic. Stirred this over the fire for 30-45 seconds, then into the oven to keep warm.
Lobster tails: Used Houndog's recipe "to the tee" and produced the best grilled lobster I have ever eaten.
Everyone loved the meal and it is definitely a "do over".
Thanks to all for the advice on the lobster tails and especially to Houndog for posting a great recipe! :silly:  :woohoo:

Note to self: Definitely need another Egg, as cooking these dishes one at a time proved to be a pain in the #$% !

Congradulations on your birthday and the dinner sounded like it was a great success.

Happy Birthday man! Can't think of a better "treat" for the umpteenth birthday than LOBSTA! I assume you're talking about the Dwell in the Shell recipe?
-
That's the recipe.
It turned out great, even though I got a little distracted and it cooked slightly longer than I wanted. (Can't say he doesn't warn you in the recipe).
Still turned out fantastic ! -
Then it's safe to assume there were adult beverages mixed in with the good friends and crustaceans! :woohoo:
-
Definitely got me with that one !

Misippi Egger,
Sounds like an amazing meal. You didn't happen to take the temp of the tail meat did you. I want to try this and don't do well with timed recipes.

Alright, that's it. I'm inspired. That Dwell in the Shell has been calling my name ever since seein it and now I'm just gonna have to do it.
-
Hope you had a good birthday.

No, I didn't. Good idea though. Since the cook is so short, I figured I would just go by the times. Sure did work out well, though!
-
It was an easy cook and produces fantastic results!
-
I had a GREAT birthday. Thanks !
