Makes quick work removing the backbone. Also great for chicken wing tip trimmings.

Double spatchcock with my own 'chicken seasoning'.

Double grid, indirect setup, 400 degree dome, applewood chips for smokin.

Bottom bird, both yummmy.

I have a pair similar to those, and they work great. One caveat would be to be careful. The way it cuts through chicken leaves no doubt in my mind that it could chop a finger off with ease.

My father in law uses those things. I need to get me a pair. I use a regular knife. How much were they?

also perfect for trimming thighs.

Clay - as usual any food picture you post makes my mouth water! I also like your suggested use of a tool meant for other uses, but adapted for the kitchen, One of my favorites is a Mircoplane developed for a woodshop, but perfect for grating hard cheeses.

OTOH here's a couple more of my favorite kitchen tools actually designed for workshop use. A (WASHABLE) plastic coated dead blow hammer and a pipe wrench which will loosen the tightest jar lid.

The very fine microplane is good for lemon/orange zest making also. You are the tool man!
I still want to send you some pic's of a twin set of cabinets I designed and built to see what you think of it. I'll send by the weekend. -
Don't remember the cost, not much I'm guessing. Picked it up at the hardware store. (candy store for me)
