charcoal storage?

I'm wondering where everyone stores their lump charcoal - 2 questions really

I see lots of you buying in bulk, so where do you store that? garage? basement?

Secondly, where do you store the bag you are currently using? My current house doesn't have a cover over my patio, so I'm constantly walking back and forth from the garage to get my charcoal. I was considering buying one of those plastic storage tubs and keeping it in therer, but it won't be airtight and I'm woried about moisture? Just curious where/how everyone stores their in-use bag?

Mine is stored in a plastic garbage can. The rest is in the shed, off the ground. Haven't had a problem yet with wet lump.

I use a plastic bucket with a screw on lid. It holds approx 20# of lump and is weather proof.

I use that thing in the middle to store all of my eggcessories and the bag of lump I'm currently using. I keep all the rest in my garage.

YB probably has the nicest outdoor cabinet I've seen. Hopefully he'll chime in.

Store the bulk in the storage building which is built on the backside of my outdoor kitchen. Stuff that I am currently using, I just dump about 4 bags into a 22 gallon galvanized trash can that I keep on the patio.

Where did you get that cabinet/cooler/bench? I could definitely use something like that too. I've looked around and most of what I find is much shorter and wider. I need the taller variety. How much vertical room do you get out of that unit anyway???

I believe I picked that up at Wallyworld. It is 42 length X 24 high X 24 deep and is made by Rubbermaid. It is not a cooler, but it's keeps my cooking stuff and lump dry.

I have a couple Stacks charcoal containers. I have to dump it in tho. One will hold a 10 lb bag of lump.

That's what I've got also (points up).

I dump the bag of lump into it though. I don't store it in the bag in the container. I feel it lets me squeeze just a little bit more in, plus I like to sort my lump when I'm putting it in, to pull out the biggest pieces to be used as the core of any long-burns I might have.

Very happy with it. Ozark Oak and Best Choice ten pound bags just fit vertically. I could dump and get 20 pounds in, but I like dropping the bag in, slapping the lid on and minimizing the lump handling.

That goes inside a Rubbermaid storage unit similar to the one Weekend Warrior has, but mine is smaller and designed to fit into a corner. I've had it for over 10 years and it still looks great.

I can store a couple of 8lb bags right in my enclosed table and 3-4 20lb. bags in the counter that you can just barely see on the left. The rest goes into a garden shed.

Back in my Weber days I used a metal war surplus ammo box, it would hold 22lbs of Kingsford and keep it absolutely dry.

charcoal storage?
