OT: The Littlest Bar
Essex County
Posts: 991
For those of you in the Boston area, you may have visited The Littlest Bar, tucked away in an alley in downtown Boston. It was truly little, about the size of an average kitchen. It would only take about 20 patrons to pack it wall to wall and it was common to see smokers and claustrophobes hanging around outside with pint glasses in hand. It closed a couple of years ago and was replaced with a condo development.
The Littlest Bar has been reincarnated on Broad Street. It isn't nearly as little, but still not too big. I stopped there last night for a couple of pints and a bowl of beef stew. The bowl was lined with mashed potatoes and made for a satisfying supper on a very cold Boston night.

Is the Union oyster Bar still open? I had oysters and chowder in there a few years ago. I think I heard it was closing. Good luck to all. Tom

Haven't been there for a few years myself. But it's still there!

is it in the same area, i used to go there once or twice a year, orvis is up the street so it was sort of routine. guinness flowed well there. it was a shame to see it go, one of the more friendly bars in boston, hope they didnt upscale it too muchfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

Broad st. isn't too far from where it used to be...thanks Paul I'll have to check it out.
Union is still open as well...at least it was a few weeks ago. -
It's still appropriately spare and dark. The menu is definitely not upscale (stew, shepards pie, burgers...). The only upscale thing was that they had taps for Maudite and La Fin du Monde.
