I want to send my guests a wassailing as I serve up the Prime Rib from the Egg.

Anybody have a good Wassel Recipe?

The other day I tried one from the history City Tavern in Philly and it was sweet, not overly spicey, hot and delicious!

    I just e-mailed the City Tavern and asked them for their recipe. They were giving out the beverage, so I hope they will share the recipe as well. If I hear back I'll post it here.

    Many many versions. I made two batches, one for us and one for a Christmas party we had at work and everyone liked it.
    This is my easy version, no eggs and alcohol free for the elves...but can be spiked for Santa Claus. Best made a day before serving.

    Wassail
    In a crock pot set on low add;
    96 oz. Ocean Spray CranApple juice
    1 cup brown sugar
    1 sliced whole orange with skin on
    1/2 sliced lemon with skin on
    2 apples sliced and cored with skin on
    2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    1 teaspoon ground ginger
    1/2 teaspoon ground clove

    Make in the morning and let it go 8+ hours set on low. When done taste test for sweetness, if too tart add more brown sugar. Cool and strain out solids then place in the frig to keep until your ready to serve.
    To serve for a party slice thin three rings of an orange and add to pot for appearance. Reheat Wasshail in crock pot 2 hours on high before your ready to serve. To serve for two, reheat mugs of Wasssail in monkeywave. To spike, first add rum in the bottom of individual mugs then add hot Wassail and stir.
    Santa crys out,"Wassail!" and his workshop elves reply "All Hail!".
    Enjoy!
