I need to replace the gasket on my Medium Green egg and I need some advice.
I know some Eggers feel that the Rutland Gasket may flake off and get into the food, but I just want the best gasket for the money, Is the new nomex gasket that much better than the Rutland Gasket?

Thnx

Spanky

Hey Spanky,I agree that the nomex is the safe way to go,and if you know me,I'm all about BBQ safety.Like, when I light my cigarettes with my propane torch,I always have a beer in hand, just in case I catch my hair on fire :woohoo:  Come to think of it,I think that my next gasket will be a Rutland, although I don't have any nomex eggsperience  I'll just try to remember not to eat food off the gasket :pinch: Seriously,I am gonna replace my small and medium gaskets with Rutland(one of these days) :whistle:I ain't scared  :P

I have had both and believe the Rutland is far superior. As far as the association with contaminating the food and posing a health risk, I am not convinced.I believe that there is no evidenced based studies that show the Rutland Gasket is harmful.
