IKEA low cost accurate thermometer?

I have seen comments on the IKEA Fanstat meat thermometer that is only $6.99.The cord is heat-resistant 428 degrees and measure temp up to 266 degrees. That is the price for a Polder probe. You could measure breast, leg and thigh or whatever for a very modest cost. One of the barbecue sites made mention that a member bought five of them and put the probes into boiling water and the all came up to 212 degrees at the same time.Sounds great if you are staying outside during the cook and do not want the remote feature.

At their web site it can not be ordered on line. But every store in the NE and SE they all had them in stock and the nearest one to me is forty miles away. They do not transfer merchandise from one store to another.I live in Maryland and there must be fifteen spots that stock it but not close to me.
