Organic Free Range Chicken Broth
Walking through BJ's yesterday I noticed they had added a small organic section to one of their isles. The item that caught my eye however was a six-pack carton of Organic Free Range Chicken Broth.
I use a LOT of chicken broth in my TAGINE cooking especially, since I often can't find (or sometimes afford) free range meat and vegetables it't nice to have a product that I use literally every week be organic.

Certified USDA Organic the 32 oz. aseptic reclosable packaging I can't wait to 'pour it on' as it were.
What makes it organic...the broth is made from "grain fed chickens, raised without hormones or antibiotics in an environment where they can roam freely." It is a gluten free product.
This product will probably get it's first test in my new MINI TAGINE I just picked up at Sir LaTable this week.
Let the jokes and critics and the experts have at it now...

Good stuff to have on hand. We use a good bit of stock in many things we make as well.
I have gotten to where I strongly prefer to make my own and freeze it in 1 and 2 cup portions. That way I get to eat a couple chickens, enjoy some wings, and then have a couple gallons of stock for about the same price of the storebought stuff. -
We boil chickens to make dog food and keep the broth but it's never enough.Visit my blog, dedicated to my Big Green Egg Recipies at http://www.bigtsbge.blogspot.com You can also follow my posts on FaceBook under the name Keep On Eggin' or the link http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Keep-On-Eggin/198049930216241

Used that brand of beef broth last night in my roast. Nice stuff. We make most of our own chicken broth, like Fidel, but beef isn't quite as easy. Well, it is, but we seldom have cuts with big bones and so forth that you would use to make broth.

I don't believe I ever saw boxes of broth wandering around a yard!!!!

Wow, can I be one of your dogs? :woohoo:

They like a cooler climate than where you are. Check with Stick & Little Steven for photos of them in the wild.

I heartily recommend pressure cookers for broths, soups, etc. A local store carries free-range chickens, and even sells back just for broth. Between them, and the ones I save from spatch-cocking, I usually manage to have at least 4 quarts on hand. And the broth from the smoked, fat capon carcass is incredible.

I haven't tried the Pacfic Chicken broth, as I usually make my own. However, Cook's Illustrated rated their beef broth #1. They said all the others were horrible, if I recall correctly.

jeff,
If you can find an Oriental market, they often sell chicken bones for stock. I get ten lb bags for a buck each. If you can deal with chicken feet, they make an outstanding broth.

Huh? We have no shortage of chicken parts, as I said. We make most of our chicken stock, but the components for beef stock are less common in our kitchen.

This has been at Costco for a while, and I keep it in my pantry. It's quite good, the best pre-made stock I've tasted.
The packages reseal well and keep in the refrigerator, so I'll often use modest amounts for flavoring pressure-cooked vegetables, stews, etc.
