A couple of days ago, maybe a week, someone was talking about a light for the egg. I found a Weber 6503 Q Handle Light on several sites that looked like I'd be able to mount by using an existing handle hole and drilling an additional one in the band at the right spacing. Found out I didn't need to drill any holes and works very well. Plenty of light and is auto on and off. Hope this isn't a repeat of something someone found long ago.

Looks like a great accessory Dave, Thanks for sharing..it definately puts a lot of light where you would need it..and the fact that it fits existing bolt holes..this one should fly off the shelves..
-
Hey Dave, that is wrong on so many levels,I can't even explain. You're modifying a BGE,with w#b#r parts :blink:Not only that, but the egg hasn't even been used yet :S :pinch: I just threw up in my mouth a little
Now go cook something to redeem yourself
BTW,it looks like it works great

Great Head's Up. BGE should jump on this idea and have some made with the BGE Logo.

I did think long and hard about posting this. Should have titled it "am I going to get banished for this".
I had three fires and two cooks when this picture was taken. Now have a Mad Max turkey under my belt.

Am thinking of removing the logo and painting it green.

BuffaloChip,
That's an odd place to put a turkey.

Seriously, does everyone think a high quality BBQ light designed for the Egg would sell well? The reason I ask is I am in the flashlight business, and we make some BBQ lights now under various PRIVATE LABELS that really are not huge volumes.
This Weber unit looks nice, but if you guys think there may be a market for one that would be designed exclusively for BGE, let me have your comments....
Thanks,
Al -
I'd buy at least three!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Ignore sparky he hates anything thats not hardwired.

I think that lighting is going to be a bigger thing to Egger’s then anyone. I live in Minnesota and cook all year long. It’s 4:01 PM and the shadows are getting long. When I do wings tonight it will be dark.
I have gone through 2 BBQ lights that had LED’s. The lights didn’t stand up to the elements or in one case the flames.
I currently am back to a flashlight with an amiable head.
My list would start with good mounting, flameproof and weatherproof.

HEHE,Pat's right though
I'll be sure to have plenty of light in the new smokehouse.Just like the old one(only better) :woohoo: -
One for my XL, 3 larges and 2 smalls please!!!
-
Willie,
Good mounting and weatherproof are not a problem, and LED for sure is the way to go.
I am thinking a bracket similar to some bike lights we do, that would fit on the handle of the BGE, and the light can be easily removed and swivelled (and used as a flashlight) when not for use on night time cooks.
I will ask the engineer folks about flameproof/heat resistant issues.

Ok, let's see what we can do here...
I will need 4 eggers to offer up their services as test marketers for me. I will send you ideas and samples and you need to send me feedback opinions etc...
We will study this and see where it goes.
First 4 to contact me at al@dorcy.com are on the team...

2 for me!

also it sounds like the Weber has a mercury switch to turn it on and off - I like that feature too.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
