Smokey Clothes

I'm fairly new to the BGE family. My wife, never short of things to b**** about, now claims that the BGE makes me "smell like smoke." In fairness, that's probably an accurate statement, although it strikes me as an unavoidable side-effect of SMOKING MEAT. Anyone else encounter this "issue"? Thanks.

Smokey Joe, Same problem here all the time. I usually end up taking a bath and changing clothes. It's not too noticable in the summer when we eat out doors. But once I come in it's bath or listen to Fang moan and groan.

• Smokey Joe,
I heard it too for the first few months of cooking on the egg. Wife was skeptical about the darn thing anyway and didn't want me to get it.[p]Now that the wife has had dozens of meals prepared on the egg, seems the nagging has subsided and her desire for me to cook on the egg has increased![p]Just be nice to her and love her even though she may "B****" as you call it. This too shall pass[p]Banker John

Smokey Joe:[p]I find that the smoke is a chick attractant . . . Helps me make my selection easier! Fortunately, The Princess kinda likes me that way . . .

Smokey Joe,
I worked in a sausage kitchen for 15 years and ran the smoke house most of the time. It does not matter if you light any kind of BBQ using anything but natural gas or propane you're probably going to smell like smoke.[p]If you want good tasting "Q".......you're going to smell like "Q"........ If "Q" smells and taste goooooooddddddddd, so must the "CHEF". [p]Cheers,

Smokey Joe, Funny...my wife complained too about the "smokey clothes" smell. Solution? No clothes when grilling. Everything was fine until the local authorities caught wind of that wonderful smell lingering in the air and investigated. :0)
Well, I'm back to wearing clothes now and the complaints have ended. Smokey clothes...who cares? Enjoy your EGG and welcome. Mac

Smokey Joe,
O.K.
DO NOT TELL ANYONE THE SECRET:[p]Fire up the egg, get her burning clean and then bring the cute woman out to the egg, not too bad we hope. Put the meat of choice on and you will probably get some smoke like any BBQ will, if she can handle that,Great.[p]Next cook get the egg burning clean and put just a few chips or a very small chunk of your choice in the egg and see if you can get to "watch ya doing your thang" ÖÖÖ[p]Before ya know it she and you will smell alike and the problem will be solved. (WE HOPE) LOL[p]Cheers,

Smokey Joe,
Which issue...the clothes smelling like smoke or the wife b****ing about everything?
Did that come out wrong?

Smokey Joe,
I had a wife like that, but she solved that problem for both of us about 19 years ago. The wife I have now is happy with me and the food and the smoke. I gave up cigarettes several years ago and she will gladly settle for a little Q aroma.
The bread and ribs were both done on the egg.[p]Terry

• Smokey Joe,
We were backpacking a couple of years ago, and got stranded behind a raging river, couldn't get across, had to send help for a rescue chopper! As we were waiting, hungry and cold, one person pulled out a bandana that she had drying by the fire. The smoke smell was so strong, it smelled just like BBQ. We passed it aroung, taking turns smelling it and dreaming of food. Now I love the smoke smell on my clothes...it reminds me of our adventure!
