When you find out how to make a good crispy outer crust and soft center loaf of pumpernickel bread let us know.

I don't know of anywhere that sells it, but if I can be of assistance on the northeast side just let me know.
Can't you substitute rye flour? -
John, King Arthur will ship it to you. -RP

I'm going to make some in the near future. I've made it several times before, but, that was year's ago and I didn't cook it on the egg. I'll letcha know!

Hey, I appreciate it, Rod. Two parts dark rye flour and one part oat bran is a substitute for it, but, I don't have a local source for the dark rye either. I'm positive you can get it in Atlanta....probably at a specialty food or health food store. I used to buy it in St. Pete at a health food store. I tried snooping around the Dekalb Farmer's Mkt. and Whole Foods web sites without much luck. Joan is coming in to Atlanta tomorrow and I was hoping to find a connection. Oh well.... :(

Thanks, Randy. I saw some on their web site and may end up getting it there if I can't find it anywhere around here (in Georgia). Joan is going to Atlanta tomorrow and I was hoping to find a place there to get some......
Unrelated question, did you ever try those cheese crisps on the pizza stone? I'm doing a cook at the dealer a week from Saturday and I don't have any of those fancy schmancy air pans you use....... -
Those fancy schmanzy pans can be had at Target for around $5 but the stone should work. You going to do them with pulled pork? -RP

I'll go check Fresh Market for you tomorrow if you'd like.
I would think there have got to be bakeries that would sell a few pounds to you. Just let me know how I can help. -
I appreciate it, Rod. I guess it's too late now to try something for tomorrow.......Joan's leaving before 8:00 tomorrow morning. She goes down at least once or twice a month so if you should happen to run across a source please let me know, and, I thank you for your offer to help.

Randy, we don't have Target stores anywhere near here! We live in the "sticks"!! :woohoo: I've got a mess of pulled pork in the freezer I'm going to use......
