Can anyone suggest a good WIRELESS Therm?

Hello
I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good wireless thermomometer. I have my egg on the back deck and need something that can not only penetrate that sweet space aged material, but can either travel around corners or shoot through my house's exterior and a bedroom. I want to monitor my meat's temp and the temp of the egg without getting my big ass up and walking outside
(I live in chicago and its cold as my wife out here!)

Any suggestions would be awesome
thanks
TDB

It can't happen unless you poke it into the meat....sorry. Oops, you must be talking about the Maverick Polder. Here I was thinking surface temp.

Might I suggest you improve your relationship with your wife. Ask Car Wash Mike I why I suggest that.

    Maverick et73 might work

I'm going to have to side with Pete here, warm up the wife first, way more important. -RP
  • I've never seen or heard of a good wireless thermometer. Regardless of price range, all that I've owned died within a month or two for no apparent reason.

    Dang,
I picked up on that too, you put it so well. He better hope she doesn't see that or she not only will be cold but an iceberge. :S

  • The Maverick T-73 is what I started with. Great unit. It either works great for you, or else it doesn't. I live in the Chicago burbs & for me it was great. There have been a lot of issues with the on/off switch breaking. Be gentle with it & it should last a long time. Very easy to use. I ordered mine from a place in Plainfield. Good luck.

  • Sure is a lot of mixed feelings about the wireless thermometers.

I first got the ET-7, bad idea. For whatever reason it didn't transmit very far and it ate batteries like candy. That model has two food probes.

I the listened to the folks here on the forum and picked up a ET-73. 1 meat and 1 food probe. Alarms for both meat and pit, upper & lower limit on the pit.

My 73 will transmit throughout the house, and well out the edge of the yard.

The on/off switch is small but so far I haven't had any problems. Mine is about a year old now.

This place has a good price on them.

    Hi GG,
I have the ET 7 and have had pretty good luck with mine. Sometimes when doing a long cook the receiver will show blank for a few minutes but then comes back on.

No problem with getting the signal in the house so long as the batteries are good. Have noticed it eat them either.

Had the ET 73 but it got burnt up as the transmitter ended up in the egg when I took the meat out. Operator error I think.
