Cevapi (chevapee), sometimes called cevapcici (chevapcheechee) is a Serbian sausage. This recipe called for 1 part lamb 3 parts beef.
Yum.

did you make that bread or did you buy it.. if you made it. it looks great!!!! if you bought it what kind of bread is it marketed as?. and if you made it where is that recepie?

is it like a Gyro? i did this once http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/gyro-meat-with-tzatziki-sauce-recipe/index.html

it was good except the tzatziki sauce. i used (by accident) low fat yogurt. and it ruined the whole thing for me  i have not tried it since :(

  • I made the bread, but I don't think I used enough yeast. Came out nice and soft, but a little too dense.

The bread is called lepinja, and is the traditional accompaniment to cevapi.

I've seen that episode of good eats...he cooked the gyro meat on a rotisserie, didn't he? Did it crisp up nicely on the BGE, like it would have on the roto?

Cevapi does taste a bit like gyro meat...it's flavored mostly with garlic and onion. I got the recipe following a link from the Wikipedia page on Cevapi.

Sorry your tzaziki didn't turn out...the markets around here have started selling greek-style yogurt. Might go a little better with your gyros.
