ideas needed.....cooking for teenage girls

I need to cook dinner for my daughter's cheer squad. They eat before the Friday night football game. How's the team doing.....0-9-0. It's our last game against another 0-9-0 team. Vegas has us as the underdog......sigh!

Anyway, the wife wants me to do pulled pork, as it will hold its own in coolers before the girls can get to it. Just wondering if anyone as a better idea for teenage girls. I'll need to hold the food for about one hour before serving.

    Pizza was my first thought too, but having to hold it an hour will not work, now if it was teenage boys they would eat it if it was 3 days old!
  • My daughter and friends seem to love pulled pork. They also love ribs off the Egg but Pizza is always a safe bet.
  • Pulled pork nachos.

    Mac and Cheese
  • Anything Mexican like tacos, enchilladas, nachos
    Or sandwiches like Philly cheesesteaks or roast beef dip. My daughter can't get enough of grilled salmon with DP Raging River and will mix it in with salad greens.

    Hi Tom,

    This would be a good chance for you to try your double-decker set up for pizzas as an "extra".

    Why not have the good old American hamburger patty cooked and wrapped in foil to keep warm. Everybody likes hamburgers, plus having the lettuce, tomatoes, etc. on the table would give the girls the option of a "salad" if they want to eat light. I can't imagine eating heavy and then go jumping up and down for 4 hours...ugh..just the thought of jumping around gives me the willies.....

    Go one step more and bring them up in the world with a batch of tater tots.

  • I’ve got to ditto the “anything Mexican” and like the enchiladas idea. Maybe doing chicken, beef, and bean for some choice.
    OTOH, a loin sliced thin, served on choice of rolls and with a selection of sauces (BBQ, sour cream mustard, the au jus’ from the drip pan…..) again giving some variety for individual tastes. B)

    pulled pork or maybe the chicken. definatly some of that kaluah cake or cheese cake ive seen posted. maybe a bunch off cheese cakes made in muffin pans

    How to Prepare Food for a Teen Party

    If they are what they eat, let them be happy, healthy and full of fun.

    Step1
    If you are going to serve a meal, include that information on the invitation.

    Step2
    Do as accurate a head count as possible so that you can make the right amount of food.

    Step3
    Figure at least two to three glasses or cans of soda or other drinks, one to two servings of entrée and a quarter of a bag of snack foods for each teen. Teenagers eat a suprising amount.

    Step4
    Prepare food as much in advance as possible, keeping storage capabilities in mind. You don't want to be in the kitchen while havoc is raging in your den.

    Step5
    Choose portable foods that can be eaten with the hands: tacos, burgers, pizza and "wraps" are good teen foods and are easy to make or buy.

    Step6
    A one-pot entrée, such as chili or pasta, can be easy to make and can be served with paper plates and disposible utensils.

    Step7
    Offer a sandwich bar with cold cuts, cheeses, condiments and bagels, wraps, breads and buns.

    Step8
    Place bowls of snacks around where you want the kids to congregate, such as in the den or backyard.

    Step9
    Fill tubs, plastic garbage pails or coolers with ice and cans of drinks.

    Step10
    Keep one iced cooler for watermelon, pineapple or other healthy fruit offerings.

    Step11
    Consider cupcakes instead of a cake for ease of eating and cleaning up.

    Step12
    Cut up veggies and serve with dips such as ranch, hummus, French or French onion.

    Looks like tacos, burgers, pizza and wraps are a good choice that offers variety.

    That is a good way to serve it. Or pulled pork tacos.

    My coworker eats 'pork butt and rice' all the time. Cut up some hot peppers and mix those in. Lots of options here.

  • Maybe do a mexican spiced pork butt and do pulled pork build-your-own burritos.

    Ala the carnitas burrito at Chipotle.

    Cilantro lime rice, black beans, refried beans, pico, sour cream, cheese, lettuce and maybe some guacamole?
