I am still a newbie so this may be a silly question: how long do cedar planks last? Can I continue to reuse them, or should I discard after one use??
Sorry for all the questions today. Thanks in advance.

After you soak them, I use mine until they crumble as they have been used several times. Now they are charcoal and what do EGGERS do with charcoal??

We just got back eggtoberfest
We only use them once
they seem to lose that great aroma after the first use
they are realtivly inexpensive so ... -
Thanks Richard!!
I think you may have answered this question as well: do I need to soak the plank before using. I typically do not soak my wood chunks prior to putting in the egg. -
I soak the planks for a few hours under water. Chunks of wood for smoking I do not soak. They work OK on the BGE dry same with chips.

The Cedar plank is there, primarily, to STEAM the fish. Because it's charred on the bottom, it does add smoke, but that is secondary to its function.

I just go to Home Depot and have them cut some cedar for me in the store. Much cheaper than buying the BGE planks.
